Arizona Chickens

Update on Broody -now has 5 eggs, I candled and took away 2 clear eggs and she smooshed one (blood filled quitter). I figured that would happen to some which is why I left her 8 to begin with. At candling at least 2 have movement and others are hard to tell since they are medium brown colored eggs, and she was hurrying me trying to roll them back.
At least you still have more in the incubator.

Another hot day today! Caring for the chickens is much easier when the weather's not so hot-- no ice bottles in water buckets, no filling/cleaning of wading pool, no misters.

Hope everyone is keeping cool!
I'm in the house with the air-conditioning right now. Flock has already been taken care of for now and thier misters are going. Funny how you can get to a point where you want nothing but cooler weather to arrive.

We only have A/C in the bathroom. I have actually slept in there on a lawn chair just to get out of the heat and try to get some sleep. 🫤

Come on November! 🍁
If I only had A/C in my bathroom, that is where I would have to live all summer long.

We have ac but we turn it off at night. So I started sleeping outside 😂. Little hot in the worst of summer...but most of the time it's just delightful 😃

Turning it off at night is one way to save on the bill. My hubby needs it on 24/7 in the hot summer because he sweats so bad.

I'm in Arizona too, up in the Catalina Mountains area at about 4500 elevation so I don't have to deal with the heat but I have an automatic water-er and shade cloth on the top and the side for the afternoon heat. I also will occasionally mist the ground which they really seem to like.

This is my rooster....I am considering re-homing him so if anyone is interested let me know. He is quite tame and has a heck of a personality.
