I am going to try some TJ eggs for the Easter Hatch-a-long. Maybe I can find some white eggs, since I don't have any white layers. How was the hatch rate??
Beautiful job on the feeder and Clyde and Monti are adorable.

OK Mahorni, Plan to post some more chick pics tonight. Need to find battteries for my camera.

will go and fix that...
I still owe you some notes on what I should have done better/avoided. Hopefully I get to that before I forget everything

Answers to all the TJ eggs questions:

The fertilized eggs at my store are all white. I assume they are leghorn because the are probably NOT dual purpose. Whoever sells the eggs to TJ probably wants as many eggs as possible. Not interested in meat.

The hatch rate is horrible but those were soooo old. I just needed to test and adjust the incubator with eggs in it. I did not even think I was going to get chicks. These must be the very resilient kind

I incubated a dozend. 4 were actually fertilized, one died early, one fully developped but then quit. I am glad I have two so at least they are not alone

On a sidenote: It's funny when after 12 hours or so they are already so fluffy that it does not look like they ever would fit in one of those eggs... They are now on a mission to grow like crazy!

I'm sorry about your peep. As to the extra grains, I could buy some. Need to make some kefir!

PM me your address and I will mail you some for free next time I am getting rid of them.

I'll post a pic of "brutus" my attack-cockerel here. He would be in the frying pan by now if he was not so pretty. He does not get along with anything that has feathers. Period. He is nice to me though. If anyone is interested in this NN, you can have him. Otherwise he will be dinner soon. He is 17 weeks old. He is from my first batch of chicks and to this day I have not encountered any diseases or pests in my flock.

Some states you have to be...to ship out eggs or to get them

Arizona is not one of the states that requires this. If you want to ship to NPIP state then you need to get certified.

is california an NPIP state
because my uncle wanted
me to send him some
turkey eggs

I have shipped to and gotten eggs from California many times...from what I remember most of the states that require NPIP are back east

Used my lunch today to go buy more chickens. They're hanging out in the warehouse for a couple more hours until it's time to go home. I figure with the new additions, I will get enough eggs to support everyone's fresh egg eating habits

Well, not EVERYONE - just DH, co-workers & nurseshelly

BEAUTIFUL day!! I had the front office door open until it slammed the other doors shut... bummer. Love the no A/C weather! I wish it could be just like this all year long!

Oh, and Savers is having a sale! I bought a hoodie for the campout this weekend! Its at Huachuca oaks campground, so it will be cold (and probably windy, if today is any indicator)
