6 weeks is kinda standard. I have mine under lamps until 9 weeks or so only because I am paranoid like that.

@ being paranoid... Like a mother hen you think?? I just realized under your name you listed you have one not so hairless dog, I thought all this time it said hairless..

As for the comment you text-ed me last night, had I seen those first I would have never considered owning any of them (the spitz) they are UGLY UGLY UGLY..

I've always had hairless dogs, this is the first dog I've had WITH hair. Its quite different having a bald dog. We miss not having to comb the dog. Lol

Today I set 1100 eggs. 550 shipped Bobwhite Quail, 250 shipped Coturnix, and 300 Coturnix laid here. I have a ton available for free if anyone wants them.

Love, love, love the chick pics!!!! They are just so cute!

NoSkiveez, I am AMAZED!!! That is a lot of eggs. I hope you have some in July when I am that way. I would love to bring some quail eggs home. I wish I could hatch them, but it will still make us feel hoity toity to eat them. As for the dogs, I just can't get the hairless dog thing. I would appreciate that around my house, but it seems icky to pet a bald dog. There is a reason the Chinese crested dogs always win those ugly dog contests.

Mahalo and Bootzie, THANKS!!!!

I think those Rocky X GCMs may be sex linked!
Light = roos, dark = pullets... guess we'll see!

My friends in Casa Grande just finished their coop and they'll be coming up for chickens on Saturday.

I was 4/4 with my polish today! That's a first and nice big eggs too... amazed those little bodies can produce eggs that big, they remind me of my leghorn!

Congrats on your broody! Have you checked Craigslist posts? I think there have been a few in the last several days in the Tucson area. Now if you are willing to head north, you should have no trouble

Good luck!

When I got my first bald dog I thought he was kinda icky, but I realized he was much cleaner than a hairy dog. I got over the skin thing. Hairless dogs often end up as the ugly dog spokesman because the often don't get adult teeth or their adult teeth fall out early which cause the tounge to fall out and they can have tons of skin problems with their skin if its not taken care of properly. Our hairless where beautiful. Well, except for one. She was interesting to say the least.
