I can't wait to see what my Cuckoo Maran's eggs look like, she's still a baby though so it will be a while

Oh, how exciting! I like the sputter! Are your girls as big and gentle as mine is? I found her hiding and trapped between the house and the fence the other day because a hen half her size was picking on her. Poor thing!

My GCMs are top of the pecking order, total drama queens. They are 2+ years old and the rest of my girls are only 24 weeks. They are submissive to my roo, but bossy to the pullets. They aren't really mean. It's just obvious that they rule the roost. They are also the loudest egg layers I have ever had. They start squawking sometimes an hour before they actually lay an egg. Definite Drama Queens and very fun birds.

Becky- I am sorry to hear about your sis's chickens. Hopefully someone here can help you figure out the predator. Every morning as soon as I let mine out of the coop, 3 coyotes show up outside of the back fence. My dogs go crazy and the coyotes back up to some bushes. They usually watch for a bit and then go on.

bootzie... Gorgeous eggs!

Of the three Icelandic roos that I hatched, I'm keeping this one, his name is Vindur

If anyone is interested in either of the other two Icelandic roos. let me know. One is a black rosecomb, the other looks like The Warden's Isi

Well, I put 8 hopefully fertile eggs under Betsy, my broody hen, yesterday...so I guess I have entered the "hatching" club. With any luck, Nature will work, since neither of us has done this before. It's all very exciting.

Here is Betsy all snuggled in this AM.

And this is the colorful cluch of eggs she is sitting on. (Not as pretty as Mohonri's or AzBootzie's, but I had to stay local.)

Mahonri - your Marans eggs are gorgeous!! That Icelandic is big. Are these egss you hatched for New Years?? I am struggling with what breeds to go with. Way too many beautiful birds and Not enough coops. Currently I just have the one coop and run. I just started on my second set up, and will need a third by the time my Easter Hatch out grows the brooder.

Crazy- I want a broody!! But then I would probably need to build yet another coop....

Betsy looks so content and snuggly. What type of eggs is she sitting on??

Well the Icelandic roo is good sized for an Icelandic... not as large as the Marans roos, and yes, I hatched him out on New Years.

I have two pullets that Crystal got me that are from my FBCM roo and some GCMaran hens.

They are gorgeous and I can't wait to see what their eggs look like.

I'll have to take some pics. NoSkiveez has some just like them.

the pullet that I got from TT... a BWA X Polish is now laying my small blue EE eggs and Mahalo has hatched some out from her mated with a BBL polish roo.
