Arizona Chickens

I initially came to ask about the rain and my chickens.   When I was reading up on
posts I had to stop and catch my breath for the loss of such a young man.  prayers
are being sent to all affected.

Our 3 chickens have an A-Frame tractor set up and the entire lower level is wet.  They
are hanging out down below.  where they roost and half the upper level is dry,
but there is a leak (needs caulking) on the other half.
The pine shavings are damp on that half.  Their nest box is dry. (they have approx
8 feet of length total to the tractor and approx 5 feet of width down below. Upstairs is
approx 2.5 feet in width. Do you think they will
be ok until I can get out there and put a tarp over the affected area and change the
bedding.  DH is in Tucson today so not able to move the tractor from the spot it's in.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Yes we have the same "A"" frame out in the front yard.. I put the tractor coop on some wood beams..
I like to water when they are out in the front.. The crickets go I between the wood slats.. Our girls whole run is flooded..
No big deal I guess they are birds.. There was a flock of honkers that flew over the house this morning... It sounded
like they were on our house.. I was on the front patio enjoying my morning tea.. When I thought our girs had flew their
coop... It was raining when they flew over.. Strange, I thought birds do not fly in the rain.. Or at least that is what I use to
think..

This just happened in my front yard. I had just called a guy to get it removed since it was leaning so badly. 20 minutes later this!

At least yours didn't fall on the car or do any serious damage. Last year, one of mine fell on and through my enclosed garden. It was leaning that way and I knew it was dying...just stupidity on my part "hoping" it would not fall on the fence. Should have called someone to take it down. We struggled with the sawsall to cut it into smaller pieces and managed to get it off the fence--they are sooo heavy, I was afraid it would pull a post down. It's not like we could just get behind it and shove

, those pieces must have weighed several hundred pounds each. As it was, it bent one cross piece and we had a big rip in the avairy wire--had to hurry and repair it before all the birds in the neighborhood discovered the ripe plums.

Thanks for the info Cityfarm.

Those fallen cactus pictures speak volumes. We had a tree do that a couple of years ago and
fell across our driveway. Luckily no cars were parked there. Now we have a sapling that
sprouted on its own taking its place. Hopefully it is better rooted.

I guest my girls are lucky, they have one dry spot in their run, under the coop is mostly dry, they have 2 roosting bars that are dry, I put more plastic sheeting on the walls to keeps rain out, seems to work. Been out with treats off and on all day. They love t heir veggies, now I'm all out. I gave them my veggies I planed on for myself. I'm bad......... I love my veggies too...... My lettuce I transplanted are loving the rain, they are really perking up.

Dang that looks like a lot more damage that we have. Our guy didn't have time to cut it all up so he just cut the tip off since it was sticking out into the sidewalk.

My family sends their deepest sympathies! There is never a good age for someone to die, but he was definitely too young to go. I pray it was a calm and peaceful passing. God bring you all peace and comfort.
I could not say it better ! although I do not know you Mahroni , I worked for 45 years as a registered nurse and have learned that death is never truely expected even if anticpated by those who are elderly and very ill. It is mostly a very hard time for the family.

Hello AZ BYC populace ! By the end of February I should be an Az citizen again. After several 500 miles round trips i may have all my STUFF moved. Since the rain is here in low cal also, it has helped me lift many of my palnts that I intend to relocate with me. Did you know that Iris and Roses do well in the Moahave Desert ? I love reading about the fruit trees in the these posts and might even consider investing in one of the drought tolerate apple trees. As of now i have an old peach tree living in Northern Az that has wonderful fruit if the frost does not kill the flowers.

Since the Saguaro is such a singular and special cactii, I was hoping that Billiam sawed off one of the limbs and planted it where the mother had been. The Saguaro is rather a mystical iten to those of us who seldom see them. This May I hope to see them in bloom again. Such sweet fragrance.

My flock is keeping all their eggs for their new home. I can not believe that only the white ameraucanas are laying. If possible I will add the Cream Legbar to my flock before I leave this area. There are several people in low cal that have them and i have been wanting them for at least a year.

Cooper was over today to help celebrate his Auntie Lauren's birthday. I made an airplane cake and airplane sugar cookies. Lauren is into planes!!!

Cooper wanted to play with Daisy... playing train

checking out the car

Cooper said Daisy needed a nap and proceeded to put the blankie on her for night night
