Arizona Chickens

I just heard the chickens making a commotion and looked out my bedroom window to see a coyote trying to get at them.

I sent the dog after it, which made her day.

That is so not fair, having coyote problems in the middle of the city.

Thank City. I just point and shoot. I have great subjects and little ones are very quick. Have to take lots of pics to get a few good ones. My little duckie is speedy, I think faster than chicks. You will have so much fun snapping pics of your girlies. Just keep the camera with you at all times. Can't wait to see pics.
Wow your chickies are beautiful and thanks for the help. Getting decent photos of them is tough! Especially with my equipment.

It's becoming clear that we have 3 boys. Yikes! The spikes on the back of the head, the taller stance, yep. Raising chickens is so much fun. The plan all along was to replace any cockerels with a laying hen or 2, so it will be a sad day when we have to let them go, but I had Rhode Island Reds yrs ago back east and we'll see what happens this spring.

The flock is out roaming the front yard... Kent is on high alert.. The trees blowing in the wind, the neighbors doing their thing..
It catch's him off guard.. He make a noise that sends the girls running for cover... It is hilarious... & enjoyable...

Karen still does that double, triple head movement when she is done scratching her head.. It is not wry neck.. I need an
old timer to pop on over for tea and observe..

I'm in the Granite Reef and Thomas area and we probably are neighbors! If you hear my cockerels, I swear I'll get rid of them soon! :D

BYC is a great resource, couldn't do without it.

Thomas and 87th! I don't care about your roos, I have a rooster. I've been able to keep him because I put him in at night and my neighbors don't care. Plus, he doesn't crow all that often...so far.

and it stinks really bad... I mean most Asian markets smell like fish, but Lee Lee's smells like something died compared to the other markets.

Durian! It is an acquired taste. The smell will gag a maggot, but once you get past that it is pretty tasty.

Gallo took time off from chasing the coyote to come work on my coop door. Who knew that it was so difficult to build a door?? He made it look easy, but, there were definitely a lot more steps than I had expected. Thank you Gallo

By the way, If it wasn't for Gallo, it would probably look like this:

I had a wonderful morning! After a very long night of my 10-month old not sleeping well, I went out to let the girls free range, only to find a single egg in the coop. It's the very first and was sitting just outside the nesting box. So I scooped it up and noticed that the nesting box had a nice big place snuggled in to it. I figured it just didn't come out as easily as she expected... It was 47g and I think it was laid by my larger of my Barred Rocks, Christine.
CONGRATULATIONS!

Hey guys thanks for the help! And sadly im being forced to get rid of my Pekin Drake. He's my best friend and i will be extremely sad to see him go. But i figured that if there was any group of people i would trust the most it would be you guys. So if anyone is willing to to take him from here ill have no charge at all. He's a sweet duck and he deserves a good home. Thanks
