I have heritage RIRs and do a lot of reading on the Heritage Rhode Island Red thread. This is definitely an issue with hatchery type RIRs, which aren't true Rhode Island Reds at all, even though they call them that. They are Production Reds, crossed with other breeds to push egg production. They have many more reproductive problems than true RIRs. And the hatchery Production Red cockerels tend to be mean whereas heritage are not. Just like the big hatcheries selling Easter Eggers as Ameraucanas, I wish they would not call their Production Reds "Rhode Island Reds" because they give the real deal a bad name.

I figured it had to do with breeding, thanks for the info! I guessed they were some mutt from hatcheries, I havent seen any that follow a certain comformation. I wonder what other "breeds" are like this?

Funny how life is, just driving down the road my son & I, when we think we see a large black garbage bag. It is off to the left by the light rail
stop..the closer we get the more it looks like a homeless man sleeping.. We pass & we both say was that a person???
I say huh, well we should call it in to make sure.. I get dispatch on the line, telling her who I am & what not.. I said "I think it could be a joke"??
There was no light rail train in site, no officers.. NOTHING?? I think nothing of it. Then my son says I saw blood.. Ok, told dispatch we are turning
around to confirm. Still no sirens, NOTHING? Huh? We are thinking someone's costume feel out of the back of their truck or something?
Then after two long lights & U-Turns. We approach & sure enough the poor soul had been hit by the light rail train.. You never know from one day
to the next huh?? And yes my son was using the video on his phone... & no we will not ever post the video out of respect for him and his family..
I only say that because everyone is asking us to send them the video..

Demo: I recently found out that you don't need to wait for the eggs to get old to have them peel well. The trick is to use a pressure cooker. A pressure cooker, huh?!? Well, I never would have thought about doing it that way. I only have a HUGE cooker for canning, so it's not worth it. I'll have my Mom try, though. She's got the fancy stuff.

That's crazy, I just saw that someone was killed by the lightrail on News 15's facebook page.
