Well, we just had a disaster. My hen was sitting on 10 eggs for a week and my 2 year old took all of the eggs out from underneath her and fed them to the dog.

So I am feeling like a complete failure. I want to get rid of my flock. PM me if interested. I also have a Boxer to give away.

It is easy to be discouraged especially when you have six children plotting against you. Hey we have all lost eggs and chickens to some typ of disaster or mistake. Don't give up yet AZKAT !

Now the dog I can understand. As much as I like dogs they really are like having an additional toddler. Wish I could help you there but I have given up on keeping pets for now anyway. But Boxers, as far as dogs go are not bad. Sorry to hear that the day is tough !

Thanks, I don't blame the boxer, or the baby. I feel absolutely horrible. I've had a terrible week and this was the icing on the cake. DH freaked when I told him I was giving away the chickens. Surprising. I don't think he'll let me give them away. The boxer, on the other hand, needs to go. It's something I've been mulling over for a long time. He's not a bad dog, but he does pee on things from time to time, which really ticks me off. He's fine with the chickens, but he apparently likes eggs. Seriously, if anyone wants him, let me know. I'd like to see him go to a good home where he will be loved on and where he can pee on stuff in peace.

Yep know the feeling well - here's what I woke up to this AM. A visit I've been dreading - by a coyote last night- got one of the turkeys from the temporary pen. Our turkeys are fighting like crazy and draw blood so there was a tom and a hen in the temporary pen. Pen is plenty stout but apparently the coyote pushed the door IN. Took the little turkey hen pushing the door out - left a few feathers around but haven't found anything else. The tom turkey never went out of the pen even with the door open - guessing he was a bit scared. SO I've spent the day shoring up the door (after taking DH to dr), putting down some predator pee (wolf) and making sure the coop and coop run was secure. I expect to have another visit tonight.:( I'll be checking often. Just wasn't what I needed to wake up to this morning!

I let my girls out to "free" range after I got home and thought it was very odd that they would not go past one gate to the yard. I thought maybe we had another dead rat on their path as they will freeze in place. No rat. I was perplexed. They all began to look up as did I and I did not see anything. Half of the girls proceeded to head back into their run while the others went to the silkies run. I was looking up at the neighbors pine tree and found what had them frozen in place. They sure do have a very keen sense of danger. I shoed everyone home and they got treats. Just locked them in for the night and checked on the owl and I heard a hoot and 2 flew off.

I am a "has been", but I think has been is 100% better then never been. I only did mountain climbing as in Camelback (for reference) type. No ropes or safety. Yes I have fallen ...... Most we think is 15' off a cliff. I have fallen out of trees and countless slips.......... in those days we did not have the fancy stuff. Just le my dun buggy's did not have set belts. We couldn't do extremes, for the average person. I also did spelunking, that I really loved. My favorite cave is underwater now, you had to hike in about a mile, then down a vertical dirt wall about 20' at the lowest then find footing Bout 100'-120' along are river is high, low you could walk partly on the bed. Then up into the living cave. After it was announced they were going to **** the river, we found what I think of as vandalism. Many formation were broken out and gone, worse of all those that were broken and left. On that last occasion I got the &%#€+¥~%*!!!!!! Scared out of me. We were nearing the back wall ware there was a clear deep water pool (over 6' to me is deep). If you could hold your breath you could dive down , swim through to more cave. As un touched as a cave in the Ozark's could be, by the natural water barrier.

Fist we heard sound, strange sounds, then fleeting pale phosphorescent glowing on the cave walls, deepening the dark shadows cast by out light. It took about an Hoyt to get to the back wall, we were about 40 min in. As we came closer the light ricocheting off the walls was changing colors and becoming more defined as light not a glow. About 10 min. A way we could recognize voices, human (we hoped), we had to know. It turned out an avid spelunker, the kind that had equipment, was taking pictures before it would be gone. The coolest thing is some of his party were on the other side of the curtain wall. You could see the light in the pool of water. I am great full I never could see all the pool. Part of it was less then inviting. Needle sharp rock formations, once above water prolly thousand of years ago remained yet. The newer part of the pool had really lovely formations sense they were not covered by water as long. Shinning a flashlight only hinted at their shape and beauty.

Well I, to day could not pass more then a few feet, I was thin then. It took skill for anyone over 140# to get past some of the bends as little (I think) 12" to squeeze through. Every one do it now! Don't wait. You will never regret it. I EARNED my arthritis.

Keep the dog and chickens, think about out sourcing your Husbands daughter/son?
Have you asked WHY? You have to accept an answer unconditionally (that trust thing). Years from now you can get your revenge when he/she has just introduced new special friend, to you can tell the story. .......... Each new boyf/girl friend............ :old. The kid (young adult). will fear the tail of the egg dinner. OH! Don't forget the grand kids.............. They will love the tall.

I know..... I'm evil
