Arizona Chickens

I have a broody!
Mary, my Orpington just growled at me and fluffed her feathers.

I know it is a symptom of this illness.... But dose anyone have fertile eggs? I just can't wait to have a mommy carring for her baby's. She had to have been the one to roll tge dummy egg back into the nest.

OH! One more thing I am convinced that Angle, my Lemon Cuckoo Marans is a roo. Dose canonizing really stop them from crowing? Will I need to rehome him, Angle is very sweet as of yet. And getting handsom. I will post a new photo of him tomorrow. His comb and waddle are right red, looks like he will be a big boy, he is now as big as Sylvia and the largest of my chicks. I do hope someone out there will want him. If you are to far away I may be able to meet you half way. Flower if you want him let me know, he is yours. No crowing yet or even a sign he wants to. I do wish I could keep him, but one Possable.

Yes we do.. Don't know if you would like to drive here to Tempe?

I adopted a shi tzu mix,(county showed them on their site. Said the entire litter, 5, were females. I found out when I picked "her" up from being spayed and microchipped that she was a he.) in Oct of 2012. He looks Havanese. "Teddy" Bear. I named him after my grampa that had passed the July prior to adoption.

I purchased a blue heeler, female, from our local Craigslist on Nov1, 2012. Gracie

I purchased a black pomeranian, male, from a friend of min on Dec 24, 2012. Romeo

All of these turned 1 yr at almost the same time.

I just recently adopted a shar pei/pitbull mix(Sharpull is what I found online as a designer breed), female, from a Craigslist ad. They wanted to find her a good home. No rehoming fee. Charlie

I have a 5 year old red nose Pitbull, female, Suki. She was my daughters and we got her when her apt wouldn't let her keep that breed. She is the smartest most loving dog. She is the model that I hope all the others take after.

We also have a 3 year old black pit bull/german shepherd mix. Zeke. We tried to get the entire litter from a bad situation. We were only able to get him out of it.

Whew! Not sure what I was thinking at the time :th .....well I do know! I would have more if I could.:love They are stressful at times. But they all are indoor/outdoor dogs. So I get a break when I need it.

Oh no! Shuz Tzu! They are so bossy and think we are less then bright when we do not get what they are saying. Pit Bulls are special dogs. They can flower to be all they can be if they know where there place in the family. With such a family there is order to were everyone belongs, has to be or there is such a mess. I have never known a bad one with good people. Very loyal to family. You may like to look up on YouTub Sharkie the pit bull. Oh! Yes handsome family.

Since Demo and his family NEED to make a trip to Marci's for turkey poults, and you want to visit and I want to visit Tucson, well how about a big camping round up in the early spring before the heat come back ? I have a small camper and I just need to see that area at least once !

How about a chicken meet in late February or March Tuscon people ?

I'm good with that, but I'll check with my wife. Our Sequoia will easily pull your camper and we have the extra seats. We'll have to iron out the details when it gets closer. A lot depends on when Marcia hatches her batches.

Happy Thanksgiving Arizona!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, and everyone else, too! There is so much to be thankful for this year. I hope everyone has a great day.

I'm not in Tucson but close - I'm in!!! WhooHoo!

So there's great news and redneck news today for Thanksgiving. First, our home grown turkey looked great marinating in the brine this morning. I think it's going to turn out absolutely fabulous and succulent. The redneck news is that "Objects in roaster oven are larger than they appear!" The turkey was slightly too large for our 18-quart roaster oven, so my good ol' Dad went redneck on him. This is what happens when you make do with what you've got!

I'll update you all once we get a taste of heaven. I may have to rethink our Christmas turkey now. Maybe my Dad's smoker is large enough... Maybe...

Happy Thanksgiving to you all as well!

Question... Is it wrong to barbeque a turkey in the back yard while all the chickens, guineas, ducks geese and turkeys are roaming about?
