Have any takers been found for the rabbits? I'd be willing to take any that are large enough for processing as well.

I hope everything is OK for demosthine and family. I'm happy you found homes for the flock.

My 4 girls started laying close to a month ago. It was finally about last Friday that we got one egg from each hen. Since then we have been gathering 4 eggs EVERY day. That makes 10 days in a row that all have laid! Is that unusual? I am new to chickens as an adult. Shouldn't at least one of them have taken a day off by now? I thought most lay for 6 days, then cycle a day off. I'm not complaining but every day I am so surprised to find 4 eggs in the nest box!

Ok I will try that.. But I am telling ya.. I was seriously almost in tears the time before last tring to peel the eggs.. I think that maybe it is the timing?& putting them in at boil. I usually put them in at the beginning.. I do have a steamer that I tried with the poke. They were still hard to get out, then the next batch we cooked a
bit longer, did the poke, waited, then added ice.. It was better, but not in a two peel method you mentioned.. Thanks.

I read on another thread about steaming your eggs, and not in an electric steamer. I used my tall pasta pot with the upper steamer insert. Steam for 15 minutes, douse in cold water for a few minutes. The peels literally slip right off!! Like the two peel method! You can use one of those collapsible type steam baskets too. My eggs were about 3 days old on the counter.

Only problem is the smell is quite powerful, like egg farts! Does that happen with the Cuisinart one, Twinklin?

A Miniature Jersey perhaps or an Irish Dexter? Perfect, fresh cottage cheese, fresh whole raw milk, fresh butter ( salted or not). 1 to 1.5 gals a day. Yum!
I've had cows and don't want any more . I have several horses. We rescue draft and half draft horses and rehabilitate them and then, hopefully, adopt them out to a good homes. We also have 2 goats that we use for milk since I am cow milk intolerant.
