I know a number of breeders who feel that a deal is not a deal until $ change hands, and I can understand that, but it should have been stated, and not have her say taht she would hold it until you arrived. I also understand not showing up as I have been on both ends of that. Sometimes life intervenes and you just cannot keep an appointment, and do not always have the luxury of calling when emergencies arise (I've had way too many of those in the last few years!) But I DO try to make contact as soon as I can. Generally I ask folks to call me when they are actually on their way.

As far as first saying that stock was from breeders, then admitting it was hatchery, that would have done it for me, and I would have walked away.

Well the new little ladies now have names.

Blue Orpington- River
White Silkie- Bunny
Silver Laced Polish- Padme
Blue Laced Red Wyandotte- Alexstrasza

Here's a vid I got today of Padme trying to dustbathe on the comforter

One of the best ways to locate reputable breeders of show quality birds is to join your local poultry club. These are the people who are breeding to the Standard of Perfection. If the club members don't have what you are looking for they can point you in the right direction. The best breeders are often not online.

The Tucson Poultry, Pigeon and Fancy Fowl Club usually meets on the fourth Sunday of the month. Membership is inexpensive - $10/year per single membership, $15/year per family, or $5/year for a Junior membership. There may be a Facebook page but the club has no significant online presence. PM me for info if you want to check out the next meeting. It will probably be June 22.

I've got a brown egg layer assortment that is set to arrive the second week in June, if anyone is interested in getting some chicks.

Hey guys, Im excited about this so I thought I'd share! ... I have a few BBS Marans and one that just started laying! The eggs they hatched from were darker than this first pullet egg so hopefully they darken up! I've been having fun all year checking out some of the different breeds and did decide I would be sticking with these as a project. They have no copper, but hearing what other people say, I'll be keeping a close eye on them for it. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress if you are interested! Here are some pics of them.. What do think?! I'm in contact with someone else who shows black Marans that I'm planning to buy a better Roo from this fall, mine has white under fluff..Not sure how easy a fix that is.. (And his poor tails been picked!) Also hoping to work on egg size! :)
