Arizona Chickens

Does anyone have baby chicks?? Our broody's date is fast approching..

Two of the easter egger hens from your flock are sitting now in the same box.   grrrr   I miss their little green eggs.  But I get tired of fighting with them to put them into a wire crate.  They are not friendly at this point. Too much hens at my house.

Yeah, same here. No more fighting to move them or change anything.. My favorite girl from you is Molly, she is such a sweety.. Both girls from you have not gone broody.. Still giving us farm fresh eggs, no molting yet.. :highfive:

LKD is having a GREAT adventure on the road. I call her now and then since she has connection issues and her YTUBE link does not work. Here is one of the birds that she hatched for me from my eggs. First I thought that it is Male and now I am not so sure. Its hatch mate a replica of her rooster "Angel" except with a ROSE comb which I like is acting quite manly but the hens can not be bothered with him since he is without fineness. What do you think ? So funny.. Good to have you back on here..

That is really cool!

We have so many willow trees growing in our creek, they take over parts of it (until a flood comes and takes them away). :(

I love to grow things from seed, they DO seem to do much better than the plants that I get at the nursery. My Brandywine tomatoes that I grew from seed this year are much nicer looking and hardier than the couple of tomato plants that I got from the nursery.

I have pulled out seedings from Cottonwoods and replanted them and they did well.  They were also given to the neighbors with a few acres that needs more shade trees.  Cottonwoods are not a favorite of mine and so I did not keep them. Here in N AZ I am growing one each of  Mullberry, Eastern Red Cedar,  AZ Juniper another type of Juniper, one Willow with fragrant yellow flowers.  I found a seeding of another Willow with decorative pink flowers and will try to replant it another spot.  Also Elm trees are weeds around here and I have two huge one in the front yard. The produce zillions of seeds each spring and are everywhere. But shade is important so people leave them in place.

Where is the seed exchange BUCKET these days ?  Anyone having a pool party in The Valley ?

We have it..we hosted a 4th of July party. Potluck, played pool & darts. One friend brought a large bag of instruments, everyone joined in and jammed out. We dd fireworks around 9ish.. Yummy food.. We plan on doing another BON fire potluck/ talk chciken when it cools down..
I think someone plans on taking for a while, @kpgoldstar I think.. Don't remember.. We have gone to about 3 different BYC members homes, they went threw it & signed the box..
When we first got it, @littlechicken brought it down, there was about 3 of us that went through it.. There is a lot of seeds, it takes a while, so went threw it kind of fast as we were all talking.. Do you plan on coming this way? If you do please stop by!! :weee

I think @macboat was looking into getting it. With some varnish that would be so cool for kids to see chickens in I think. Because they could relate to the playhouse. I see them all the time so whenever you're ready to stock your new place for cheap, let me know and I can search for you. No reason to pay for anything when so done is always giving what you're looking for away. Keeps it out of the dump and it would fit in perfectly in your educational little farm.
we got two spools and a cake topper thing for free for the goats and some tree stumps. My boys thought I was weird asking the lady for the tree stumps.

I would love any oak seeds or mulberry and possibly willow for my new place. I cannot have too many cottonwoods as I am allergic to them. ugh,.

Hey guys! How is everyone? I've been on vacation for the last month, went back east with my grandparents. Well I was gone my chicken became free range! My mom didn't know how they were getting out, so she just, let them go :D The dogs don't bother them, well, the little one tries to chase them, but the chickens are about twice her size, so she never really scares them haha. I still have all the fencing up, with just a little gate thing so they can get out easier. We're moving soon so I didn't bother trying to fix wherever they were getting out of, plus, they like getting to run around the whole yard!
