Yes it does work, not as good as shown in this video.. He started crowing about 1 month ago.. At the beginning it was not to bad, however we have new neighbors so we put it on just in case.. The new people are not as pet friendly as all of our other neighbors.. All of the other surrounding neighbors love his crow.. keep us posted on what you decide.. I have extra Velcro if anyone wants some.. If you want you can grab some at our next meet & greet BYC roasted marshmallow, potluck event I will post dates & times closer to the event.. October

are you saying you have an extra collar? And if not where would I buy one at?

!  I had a great visit with her a couple of days ago.  Her Mesa yard is an urban jungle of edible plants and she sent me home with an armful or two of cuttings, fruit and seeds. Yum!  It was also fun to see her chickens and turkey and how she has them set up to handle the heat of summer.  I think my DH wanted to smuggle her turkey out of her yard, he really liked that bird.  I can see a turkey now in our future.

Her wattles are small because of her breed.. The red means she is close to giving you a prize..

I have 2 pullets with red combs and larger red wattles that I am eagerly waiting for a prize from. The leg pecker and the other pullet still are not developing the red coloring yet. I bought all 4 at the same time and they were within a day or 2 of the same age, I'm sure. Ah, genetics.

Even with the same breed and age they can look so different. What breeds do you have?

Yeah, too late for this time.  Orders were due the 25th of last month.  That makes the next order due September twenty-something for delivery in October.

How bad is it for chicks to eat layer feed?   'cause that's all I have.       My chicks are 7 and 12 weeks. 

I'm usually on grower at that stage. I know if u feed very young ones layer feed it can hurt them. Their bodies can't handle the higher proteins, calcium and other things in the layer feed. I don't know at what age they are old enough for that though. I usually stay on grower till the first egg or within a couple weeks of it. Hopefully someone else chimes in. It might be worth getting the right feed even if it's not organic for a week or so. By the time they start giving you eggs you would have been back on the organic long enough for their systems to be "clean".

I would not feed them layer feed, the extra calcium causes severe problems with the kidneys. I can get smaller bags (e.g. 5 lb) of chick starter/grower at my local feed store, maybe that's an option? Hopefully someone near you has some.
