Arizona Chickens

I have a question for you experienced chicken folks: I have one pullet, the one who was the most friendly, who is now running after me when I leave the pen or have my back turned while cleaning the pen and has pecked me on the back of the leg twice today. Not hard, didn't hurt, no broken skin. Any ideas why she is doing this? I shooed her away with the broom and she quit. I want to modify her behavior quickly so it doesn't escalate to "evil chicken" status.

She is also the smallest of the 4 and has not started to get the red on her comb and wattles are still small.

Oh wait, I just checked on how old they are,, about 1 month.. I guess I am getting old.. At 3 months they would of had more feathers

you should go check out all my new duckling pics and chicken pics at my FB page. https://www.facebook.com/PrickleyAcresFurbabies?ref_type=bookmark.
we got Muscovy and Miguel named them all after chip brand names so we have Dorito, Frito, Funyuns, Cheeto, Tostito, Takis and I think the other one is Ruffles. lol. I love my son's imagination. I re homed 7 drakes to a guy that puts them in his horse pasture to keep the bugs down. I only had 3 females out of the original 14. :(. I am waiting to see what these Muscovy are and then I have 1 Welsh Harlequin and 2 younger white Muscovy in the brooder. ducks everywhere!!! lol

Sorry don't do face book.. I wold love to see some photos.. :highfive:

Hi, I noticed you mention a cockadoodledoo collar. Does it work? I have what I thought was two pullets black copper Marans but I fear one is a cockarel. Only because I live in Mesa and the noise factor. If it turns out to be a male, i'd like to try to keep him.

Yes it does work, not as good as shown in this video.. He started crowing about 1 month ago.. At the beginning it was not to bad, however we have new neighbors so we put it on just in case.. The new people are not as pet friendly as all of our other neighbors.. All of the other surrounding neighbors love his crow.. :yesss: keep us posted on what you decide.. I have extra Velcro if anyone wants some.. If you want you can grab some at our next meet & greet BYC roasted marshmallow, potluck event I will post dates & times closer to the event.. October

Those bags aren't truly sealed. I have heard of that being kind of common in feed. I havent seen it in the fresh stuff we get from to co-op though. Just a little extra protein for your birds.

The bugs are already in the feed just like there are bug larvae in flour and with the right conditions - moisture and heat - these hatch out into bugs. That's why you see these worm like larvae in your flour sometimes especially if it has been hot where you keep it.

One of our chickens had a mystery band around her leg and when I removed it...

I have no idea how it got wrapped around her leg or where it came from, but I'm definitely not going to "open her". Geez.
