I do have to change out the water daily. Pretty boy is used to his cockadoodladoo colar.. It helps at the end of the finale.. Not as loud as his brother or father was.. Our sweet ducks playing in the water.. Boy do we love them!!

Anyone know a good way to get rid of mosquitoes? We have thousands of them right now and my dogs get covered in them when they go outside and then they bring them inside and there driving us nuts.

When my sister lived in FL the mosquitoes and other biting insects where hard on her dogs. She started to add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to their water and it really helped keep them from getting bitten.

Empty anything with standing water. Take a tour of your yard and really LOOK. Pot saucers, old tires, kids toys, anything plastic can potentially hold water and breed mosquitoes. Keep everything emptied of water, and check over your fence to see what is going on in the neighbors' yards since they can be coming from them.

If you have ponds or fountains use mosquito minnows (Gambusia), they will eat any eggs or larvae in the water. I have extras if anyone needs them or you can get them for free at County Vector Control which is where I got my original minnows.

I am so ****** off at Channel 12 news right now. They're the worst. Can't get facts straight and can't even tell a story right. As it turns out they can't even get it right and are issuing an apology.

I think they sensationalize everything to make their show more interesting, and of course they put their own spin on things just by what they include or exclude from their coverage. Just one more reason I don't watch TV.

Updated the coop this week with some new watering techniques. Ran piping with chicken cups both inside and outside.Can't really see the cups inside here but drilled a hole through the 2 x 4 to run the cups on the inside. Hooked up to a cooler on the outside so we can fill it easily and add ice to keep it cool. Also have a cooler inside the coop with chicken nipples. Now just have to add some windows to the hen house for the girls.

Looks great! I use the cup waterers for my quail, but the brite tap nipples for my chickens.

...Bad news my turkey just died last night and thinking he fell off his crate and broke his neck As he was covered with ants this afternoon when I came out to find my tom turkey.

Sorry about your turkey. What a weird thing to have happen!

If any bird dies in my flock it gets fed to the dogs unless they smell really bad and that hasn't happened yet since I'm checking on my birds several times a day. I feed my dogs raw anyway, and since my birds eat organic it's way better than any crappy commercial dog food out there even if the bird has been dead several hours. I would have just hosed the bird off, maybe plucked or skinned it and fed it to the dogs. Waste not...

Its a very sad day in AZ this morning we lost one of our family members, a 21 year old Chihuahua named Tia everyone in the family is heartbroken from the loss. I will miss my little howler she was a wonderful and courageous companion. R.I.P. Tia girl.

Sorry about your loss. Wow, she was old enough to drink and gamble in this state! But no matter, it's never enough time to spend with them, I have a 15 1/2 year old dog, I can only hope he lives as long.

I caught this litte devil crawlin on my wall next to my bed.

Whatever it is I sure wouldn't want it near my bed! This is why I miss my cats, I never saw a spider, except parts that they didn't eat.

I wish we did not have them here, sadly we do. One of my clients hade a date with one while doing yard work.. He was rushed to the hospital, His thumb was almost removed... Poor guy.. We have a ton of black widows.. I go out at night with a flash light & a fly swatter..
I don't know about ya all, but the last few weeks I have been exsausted.. I don't even have the engry to check in here.

Good to know the collar seems to be working on your roo. The ducks are getting big!

I planted my lotus in a giant pot outside with maybe 12 inches of water above the soil. There are already leaves poking out of the water.

we got Muscovy and Miguel named them all after chip brand names so we have Dorito, Frito, Funyuns, Cheeto, Tostito, Takis and I think the other one is Ruffles. lol. I love my son's imagination. I re homed 7 drakes to a guy that puts them in his horse pasture to keep the bugs down. I only had 3 females out of the original 14. . I am waiting to see what these Muscovy are and then I have 1 Welsh Harlequin and 2 younger white Muscovy in the brooder. ducks everywhere!!! lol

Hi, I noticed you mention a cockadoodledoo collar. Does it work? I have what I thought was two pullets black copper Marans but I fear one is a cockarel. Only because I live in Mesa and the noise factor. If it turns out to be a male, i'd like to try to keep him.
