Arizona Chickens

Hey folks,

I am about 100 pages behind but in dire need of advice so I'm jumping ahead.  I also posted this in the sick chickens thread but you all are much more liable to respond quickly.

So my one year old silkie hen is in obvious respiratory distress. She started mewling like a kitten started a few days ago but I just thought she was weird. She's been off by herself all day today after breaking a nearly two week broody. Tonight she was sneezing (or she did once or twice) and now sounds like she's choking, wheezing/squeaking, and she keeps stretching out her neck like she's fighting for air / gaping . I've brought her in to the house (another chicken tried to attack her) but I have no idea what to do for her.  Her crop is empty but she's got plenty of flesh on her breastbone.

Anyone have ideas?  I don't have much of a medical kit here, just some blu-kote and electrolytes.

Thank you for your thoughts.
I have not had, as of yet a lot of experience with chicken illness problems. I had something similar, someone told me to put an a couple of drops of Olive oil down her throat with an eye dropper. Tried it, somewhat better. I massaged her throat a little also. I thought I felt something on one side. Not sure. She did get better but never recovered completely. Gave her Electro lights and a probiotic for chicks, thought it couldn't hurt. She disappeared one day, found her behind a flower pot with a broken neck, as far as I could figure. We had been having storms with high winds. So I do not know if she would have recovered completely. Could not do a necropsy, had Been dead to long.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I have used Tylan50 (most feed stores have it and needles) in the past for this type of respiratory problem. One shot in the breast for three days. I keep them inside in the nursery pen (usually they feel pretty good the second day) I've never had one quite as far along as yours. Coughing gets my attention right away. I'm not sure how much for your Silkie girl - probably about a half of a cc. It has worked a number of times for me.

Anyone have any fertile EE, Ameraucana or BA eggs they wouldnt mind sending me I want to try out my two incabators that I have. I have some fertile mallard eggs but they have been in my fridge for a few months not sure if there still good lol plus my EE needs some new friends lol.
I had BBS and NN EE eggs but my BBS AM have went on strike but as soon as they start back I will have them and NN EE which I have 3 different color green eggs, LOVE THEM!!

I have EE eggs too. I have some EE hens and a mix of brown layers with purebred Ameracauna roosters in Wheaten and Blue Wheaten if you need EE eggies.
Do you have any extra Wheaten or Blue Wheaten roosters for sale by chance?
Has anyone been to the BIOSPHERE in Oricle?

Ya all down by the border, are you getting tons of rain??
Not yet but Miguel my youngest wants to go. We got rain and a ton of wind tonight.

I do not have any extra Ameracaunas at the moment. I have eggs going into the incubator this week though.

ok let me know what you are asking for them. I just got a rooster through a chicken swap and he is not quite up to where I want him to be. You are here in Tucson right?

Yes I am in Tucson. I have Cliff Redden line Wheatens. I bought the last of Keith in Wilcox's stock. This is the Rooster. He is 5 months old.

That doesn't sound good. So, she's been broody for two weeks and now this showed up? How did you break her broodiness?
