Arizona Chickens

Hey, Bobby!

So where in Tucson are you now? I would love to meet the Tucson folks (other Arizona folks too). we should all do a meet up!

I would love to see your construction plans ... maybe I can put my roommate to work! We have a big, big shed that is rough finished. The pen is outside and backs up to the shed ... if the land lady would let me, maybe we could put a door in the shed and build a coop inside ... and I don't even have steady eggs coming in yet!

I'm out by TTT Truck Stop, where they built the new Pilot Travell Center. I'm just a few blocks east of the new Habitat For Humannity housing subsection. Nothing built here yet, but I'm plannin like crazy. --BB

Oh, no way.. How cool.. Wher do you think he came from?

I have no idea where he came from. The weirdest thing is he just waltzed in and made himself at home. I didn't see him til I was doing a head count because he was nestled in with the rest of the hens and no one was chasing him or anything.

Hey Cyborg,

The chicken view area will be outside of the run. All the green shown in the pic is for garden beds --BB

OK, gotcha now. When you said it was screened in, I thought you meant the bench was inside the run.
I have a canvas folding chair in my run, luckily, it hoses off easily.

Poor Stubby. The rain must've been pelting sideways because her cage, which was under the porch, filled with water. She was in about 4" water and sitting as she can't stand up well because of the Marek's. I have her wrapped up in a towel in my lap.

Poor girl. I had a guy tell me how to humanely euthanize a chicken using dry ice in a bucket with a lid. If you want the details on how to do it just pm me.

I have a white Cracker Barrel wooden rocker in front of my pens. I feel like granny from the Beverly Hillbillies.

Agh, poor girl.. Is she doing better?

I bought a chicken health book at Bookman's today. It's not clear to me if she can transmit Marek's to the other chickens. She seems to be getting worse. One of her claws is staying closed most of the time. My roommate work in a cancer research lab and feels confident in his skills to euthanize her. If she's comfortable through the week we will put her down this weekend. She's such a pretty bird. The difference between the production BPR and the heritage-bred BPR is amazing. It's not just the distinct, clear, narrow barring, but also the doneness of the feathers themselves. They are narrow and lofty. We will be sorry to lose her.

Must be an epidemic! My next door neighbor just discovered a young Black Copper Marans rooster amid her flock. He just showed up!
