WHO WANTS A ROOSTER?

I could not wait any longer for my girls to start laying (they are 4-5 months old), so I bought two 7-month olds last night (a Buff Orpington and a Barred Rock). We are hoping to get our first egg today!

In the meantime, I have 5 roosters that need a new home ASAP. I am hesitant to post on Craigslist, because I do not want someone fighting them or eating them.
Would any of you wonderful people like one? We are keeping the 2 RIR females, but their 5 brothers need to go.

We have raised them since they were 1-2 months old. They are 4-5 months old now. They are spoiled rotten. They eat fresh fruits and veggies, live on acre of land, free range, and have a mister. But, these boys need hens of their own. They are mixed: Rhode Island Red + Orpington (4 available) and Australorp + Orpington (1 available). None of them have ever been aggressive with us or the children.

If you do not intend to harm my boys, please contact me and we will schedule a time to meet.
I can text or e-mail pictures too.

P.S. Do any of you have any leads to a rescue in AZ?
UPDATE:

The roosters have been given to a 4-H Club. Thanks!

Hi guys im having a issue with a few of my BR hens plucking my EE's back feathers what can i do to stop this problem? also my guineas are attacking my chickens what can I do about that aswell?

so I am bummed out. I went to the Dr yesterday and I found out that I still am not released to return to work (going on a year). I have about 5 specialists I need to go and see. I have Cervical spinal stenosis, degenerative joint (2 types) shoulder and my knees and disc disease and joint disease in my neck. She did not sound positive that I will be able to return to work and said I will be having more surgeries in the near future. On the positive side all my labs were good except the fact that I am severely vit D deficient. Thank God I have an amazing DH and 2 great boys. The livestock pushes me to get up and go do even when I do not feel like getting up. Its a bit disheartening knowing that I probably will not be getting better but maybe they can keep me walking. That is my biggest prayer. I wanted to remind everyone to be careful we found this huge guy in my coop a few nights ago. thankfully he did not get anyone. Be Careful.
Sorry to hear that. I had a Nephrectomy in 2012 and I haven't been the same since. The animals help with my ailments too. Even when I don't feel like moving I force myself because when these dang animals see you first thing in the morning and are so happy to get fed, I'm glad I did. So glad that the heat is gone. Beautiful snake. When I moved here I was doing a lot of Snake Removal in Wittman, Az. Being from La. we're kinda used to snakes.
Had a little backyard coop improvement fun today! We fixed up the waterer, the feeder and the nest boxes are now loaded and in the coop! nest boxes! waterer (bought, not made) feeder (home depot bucket, DH made the holes and hung it) now my darling spoiled brats need to lay me some eggs, I only have one left in the fridge and the ladies are 24 weeks! Please disregard my dirty coop, we didn't make it to cleaning! I am going to put sand in in the next few weeks as well!
Looking nice. I wish I could use these feeders but the FF didn't do well in it for me. I need some nesting. Boxes like yours for my Coop Renovation.

The nesting boxes are cat litter buckets with the lids cut off at the built in bend. I am putting them into an area of the coop that was meant as the nest and is about the same length as these three side by side. the original area had not enough lip for bedding and was not divided. I LOVE my cat litter buckets, so i never throw them away and I saw them used on here in another thread. I also cut a big flap out of the side that is now the top so that i can flip it up and steal eggs. I can re-attach the cut off part of the lid to move a broody hen as well. We are going to put a piece of wood they will lock into to be more stable as well. I will also be putting one more out just on the ground in the run once the next bucket of cat litter is empty. I will put gravel under the bedding so it wont tip over.

our next project is a duck house and enclosure, bless poor DH's soul, mama is NEVER done designing new things.

If you heard some lady in the home Depot yelling about chicken math as she drug her husband off to look at sheds it was probably me. "Chicken math, hundreds of chickens, it's ok babe, it's chicken math, we need a goat too by the way, but chickens and sheds, yeah." So lucky he loves and indulges me. :clap :weee :weee :weee :th

I hope to be going down in the next week or so to pick up some barred rocks, would anybody else like me to pick up a barred rock for them? From the East Valley or Phoenix area and meet me on the East side for one?

I'm in Tucson too if you still need that cute little Gold Sebrite.

Tucson has had a chicken coop tour for the last six years. Usually in early December. Tickets are usually $5. The year I went I paid in advance for the ticket and they emailed me the map of coops a day or two before the event. There is no online evidence of a coop tour for 2014, but it is still early. Check the Food Conspiracy Co-op website for information. Nothing online yet. Maybe toward the end of October. Or call them and ask if there will be a 2014 coop tour.

The year I went most of the coops were in central Tucson, but there were also some in more outlying areas. It was a fun day. Well worth the $5 and gas.

She eats every night and goes back and lays on them. I don't know why she's not having luck here. Should I candle those dark eggs tonight? Maybe find a BRIGHT light and do it? I'd like the Maran chicks to hatch. I don't want to look around for breeds that I want. Really only want a few more chickens.

They may still hatch, you still have a few days to go before hatch day. I'd leave her alone and the eggs alone.
