I thought I would post some chickie pics. Just because they are cute. These are Silkies I just hatched.

Those are the cuties little stinkers ever..

I know I am sry. there are so many at our shelter and for free. they even have barnyard kittens. oh wow!!!!! so adorable. I have never been a fan of bantams but I might rethink that for bantam NN. Yes, those prices are normal for rare breeds. If you get into show birds or rare birds the prices really jump. remember they are NOT hatchery birds. sry you got sticker shock!! exactly. rare and show birds cost a lot. or organic birds too.
The hens are adorable! Mine likes to be broody and she just cracks me up. I don't know how to connect video.. I will try to figure it out and attach one, she yells at me and its cute :D but here is a pic of her and her mottled "sister" My kids love them because they are easy to catch! They are like: :highfive: .
Agh, they look so happy..

@k9dave

I may have just the kitten and for you!! :D

now she is been inside with me for about 5 weeks and a week and a half ago I just started toilet training her on the human Toliet, without a litter box. She likes to bite my toes to get me to play string or fight with her, she likes to catch flies, chase string, her mother's a feral cat, and I don't think I have anything stimulating to offer her as shes very very active! Let me know if you'd like to consider her!
she's pretty and she's been eating fairly healthy food. ;)

Agh, love your photo..

A coyote killed all of my chickens last night. It was my fault as I didn't close the run in my extreme laziness before bed. It just walked right in. I feel like the worst human being ever.

wow I am so sry.
I found them scattered and buried in the yard around 6am and the coyote was back at 6:30 looking for it's kills. My bf says we'll get more birds. Next time I'll be a stickler as I was 2 years ago about making sure they're locked up when we leave the house or go to bed. It's hard because they were not breeding chickens or meat chickens. They were pets. It's like having 8 pet cats die all at once. Now I have to be extra careful about letting the dog out because he's small so I have to go out with him until the coyote forgets our yard. Maybe by Jan I'll be able to order chicks for spring and by June the yard will be safe for day time free ranging again.
I know how I felt when my own dog killed 13 of mine. it is really really hard. what breeds did you have? I am hatching chicks, idk how I would get you them but maybe if you want one?

Good Morning

Here are the chicks I got at OK Feeds about a week ago.

Here is the golden-laced Wynadotte chick. S/he is the only one with mature enough feathering to see if its pretty.

The silver-laced Wynadotte isn't looking so lacey. (Middle row, black.) The gold (red?) sex link on the bottom right is named Brie. She has creamy white on her wing shoulders. She's the most friendly, too. Her wing feathers coming in don't have darker colors interspersed like the other sex links. The cuckoo Marans is at the top, looking pretty shabby.
she is very pretty. I love little fluffy butts.

A few shots of what I've been doing and who in doing it for.

I meant to ask before what everyone uses for painting the inside of their coops? Ours looks old and ugly and needs a re-do.

Man - so sorry.  Lately we've had packs moving through our area.  I have done everything I can think of to shore up the outsides but I'm still cooping everyone at night - they hate it but I feel better.  I sure do get an earful when I go to let them out of the run in the morning!!   Don't beat yourself up - you'll never forget again!
I'm sorry dear, did that happen to you. :hugs

I might be going back to desert Marcys this month as she had barred rocks pullets for 10 each and that's a really good deal
on a standard bred. They're young enough that you would still be able to love on them as pets . these will mature slower than a hatchery bred BR, but they will probably lay closer to 8 months old. Let me know. But I also know another girl (MrsFitzdarcy)from Tucson may be coming up in our valley to.

yes I Agree with littlchicken, very cute fluffy butts!!:p @k9dave just FYI this kitten will be a perfect Barn cat she loves to chase everything!!! I'm sure you could train her quite well. =D this is not a kitten for holding and cuddling. But she will follow you around and sit and play near you. She is way too wild to be a lap cat.
