Arizona Chickens

I have seen people use just about anything to provide shelter for the chickens.  Seems they are not picky at all.  I agree with extending.  I like to provide as much room as possible for a happy/healthy flock.  You can build your dream coop when the funds are available.  I've seen people use large plastic totes that they cut a hole in. You might even be able to pick something up at goodwill.  Just my two cents worth.

Okay, thanks! That is what I will do!!!:yiipchick

That is awesom.. They will love it.. I am getting some root's on 3-4 of the fig cuttings from gallo, if you would like a tree let me know.. I am starting a new batch from a neighbor soon...
Wow! Thanks! But so far I have failed miserably at growing fruit trees around here. Our earth is so rocky and sterile...and I just don't have a green thumb. All of my gardening takes raised beds filled with compost and a lot of effort. Trees are a bit too much of a challenge for me.

I would give you a Palo Verde tree, but the dogs don't get up. It was in a pot and it would be perfect for you. You have to do nothing. I'll look for some more free ones and give them to you

You are so sweet! But my son is allergic to Palo Verde pollen. We've had to clear out the trees we had growing here and replace them with Mesquite trees...the one tree I have no problem growing. I've also managed to keep one Aspen alive...but I'm approaching the growth of trees with baby steps.

I'm thinking of growing sunflowers around the coop to offer a little extra shade and some seeds for the chickens. What do you think?

Oh yes, the wild birds will love them too. Finch, lovebirds, and one other. I can't think of the name right now. Grape vines are fun. They died back in the winter and it gives the flock sun. There is so much you can grow, that is easy as well..

We get Elegant Trogons at my house too. Every now and then I wake up to find bird watchers parked in my driveway staring at the birds in my yard with their binoculars. It's a little creepy, actually.
