......I wholeheartedly understand how this went from just being a little excitement and a backyard hobby -to.... oh my gosh I think I have a farm now!! In the city at that! It was just two & a half years ago I believe, when I only had one chicken,,,,,,, now that's hard to even fathom just having one chicken, lol! I don't think I can imagine a life without chickens!

Lets see,, hmmm...this spring I only had 35 chick's of assorted ages and stages! Whew!!! :D

LOL!
With what I picked up from @desertmarcy a few weeks ago and the hatch this week, I think I'm a little north of 90! Feed is getting expensive, the BCM's I picked up from Marcia are regular gluttons!

...well I hate to say it but, I think it's a good water you've been giving yourself! It must be making you feel like strong like Superman to keep up with all those chicks, lol! @lacymorgan I've decided I think some of us are gluttons for punishment, with birds of feathers! :P

And Cyborg. ..."you may," just have to start growing some more of your own chicken food and throw more of those sunflower seeds out there!

I love you photo's & happening's around your property!! Do you stil get the peacock visiting daily??
Loving those egg poaching cups - they are easy on the eyes!!
AND now I know how to make another place for the chickens who hate the nest boxes (whatever that's about!) I just need to put a cover over it.........here I come shade cloth!
AND the peacock went away during the last wind/rain storm for about a week but he came back looking skinny so I've fattened him up a bit with extras like the bananas they love and extra mealy worms. While I refer to him as our foster boy we have now named him Ranger. He has found his voice and loves our front yard - so about 5:30am he's hollering for food!! Here's pics from last night around 6pm in our front yard. He's getting more used to me and doesn't run too far when I come to toss him food. I love the tail when its fanned but I really love the coloring, texture and density when he starts putting the tail down.......its my favorite. He was out by the chicken yard this morning strutting again with his tail fanned. Closed it up fast when he saw there were greens being given out!!!

Broke down on the side of the road the other day in Chandler at an intersection with nothing around but 1 little property with a huge Pecan Tree. Thought I'd cool off under it while I let the truck cool down and was greeted by a very friendly group of chickens.
I started cracking a Pecan off the ground a little while later and boy did I have a lot friends. They came out of the wood work. Obviously it wasn't their first Pecan. Ultimately the property owner came home and I introduced myself and told her the problem. She let me leave it there for 3 days and even offered to let me use her AAA. Just goes to show Chicken people are the best.

Made me miss all of you guys and my chickens especially. I do read some but never take the time to post a message.

Hope everyone is well.

I never have the luck to find any adoptable creatures in our yard, never mind a peacock! I wonder how a peacock can wander off and not be noticed. I'd hate for him to get hurt. I hope he stays. How wide do you think his "tailspan" is?

Poached eggs are my favorite. I just don't have any luck cooking them.

I love them too. FYI I learned a new method for them and it worked great. We are full time RV'ers now and cooking indoors heats the tiny place up quick. Found this recipe that cooks in the oven in muffin pans and we love it.

Poor 1tbsp of water into the bottoms of the Muffin Pans holes and bake at 350 for 13 minutes. Each oven is different so you'll have to play with timing but they turn out perfect every time. A slotted spoon will drain the water that is now on top of the egg. 13 minutes made the whites firm and the yellow runny. Yum.

The lady's house I broke down at have me a dozen eggs. Whoopie

Meant to mention that we have a Convection Oven and use it outside so we don't have to hear the house up.

That is kinda similar to my mini fritatta recipe. I use spray oil in muffin tin, fill with beaten eggs, then add cheese and ham chunks, sauteed peppers and onions, or whatever floats your boat. Bake until done and enjoy. These keep well in the fridge and make a great microwave breakfast on the run.
