Quote: o golly so sorry to hear about your darling Amy, poor little thing & dam those scorpions, maybe build or invest in some bat houses..? bats will feed on Scorpions . They are both active at night and thrive in many of the same places.![]()
No I haven't.Hay, by the way.. Has anyone heard from
@a little chiken or @Mr lil chiken
Miss hearing from you. At least if your had you leave your vehicle it was with a chicken person!
Broke down on the side of the road the other day in Chandler at an intersection with nothing around but 1 little property with a huge Pecan Tree. Thought I'd cool off under it while I let the truck cool down and was greeted by a very friendly group of chickens.
I started cracking a Pecan off the ground a little while later and boy did I have a lot friends. They came out of the wood work. Obviously it wasn't their first Pecan. Ultimately the property owner came home and I introduced myself and told her the problem. She let me leave it there for 3 days and even offered to let me use her AAA. Just goes to show Chicken people are the best.![]()
Made me miss all of you guys and my chickens especially. I do read some but never take the time to post a message.
Hope everyone is well.
Cute!
Hey those eggs I gave you are fertile...just sayin'.I met a lot of great AZ BYC peeps today!
Thanks @Gallo del Cielo for the vines. They are mostly all distributed now, just a couple more to go.
I also was able to get a few globe mallow seeds from the seed box to plant in my tortoise enclosure!
@Sill , my daughter wants quail now! lol
Oh no! So sorry that happened. After I got home today from our meeting I noticed my BR, Amy, laying in the grass. She showed all the signs of a scorpion sting. Unfortunately, the little BR that survived a Cooper's hawk did not survive the scorpion.![]()
lol.I've already told you about Queenie our more than cheeky leghorn. Here's another....... This is the second egg she has laid on hubby's power chair. She loves to come into our back porch area. This time he noticed she was scratching the chair so he went and got her a tshirt. Scratched it into a suitable shape in no time. Then in minutes she laid her egg. Last time the chair was in his shop with a tshirt already on it. Then she invited company in to see her egg singing her egg song. You can tell she's already hot. It has already hit 106 here today.![]()

I have a question, you said she had signs of a scorpion sting. What exactly is that? What should we be looking for?
So sorry for your lose.

dotto from me on that question, What should we be looking for...?
Quote: A scorpion sting contains a protein toxin, termed venom.. It is very painful , seizures can happen, difficulty breathing, blurred vision. But on a chck, most likely death.. They don't have the weight of a human..there are more symptoms.. Hope this helps..
We have a few nighbors that have put up bat homes with no success. They heard to face the bat house East.. They did that but in direct sun.. We have asked our carpenter neighbor to build a few for us.. We are on that list of things to do...
She was fine one minute and laying in the grass, unable to keep her head up the next.
I brought her in the house in a box and was hoping for the best. Sometimes they get through it.
Basically they shake/seize, can't hold their head up, their eyes open and close and their legs stick straight out behind them and their breathing either speeds up or slows down. She stuck with us for a few hours so I had some hope.
I saw one stung once that just shook her head scratched at it and kept going, it didn't phase her. I also saw one stung that immediately dropped dead. Over the last 7 years I've lost 3 or 4 to scorpions and nursed 2 back.
