Arizona Chickens

We hit 100° today and it's supposed to be hotter tomorrow.

The waterers are all shaded and one is connected to the spicket so the water should be ok. I was debating a misting system but I'm on a tight budget, so if I can get away without one I'd like to. Though I'll gladly do it if that's the only way to keep them comfortable. The water pan thing is a good idea, I have to clean the wading pool for the ducks everyday anyways.

Thank you guys for responding. I appreciate any advice I can get. I know nothing about this stuff.

You're welcome! Ask question's anytime. That is how you learn.

Lost my GLW Roo, "Rudy", overnight. Found him dead in the coop this morning. No signs of trauma, he looks like he toppled off the roosting bar.

Super bummed, he was a gorgeous bird and not even close to full grown.

Sorry that you lost him. Do you have another one as a backup roo, or will you be looking for another one?

Remember I have three roos to rehome! I'll try to get pics. Also I know there is a place in the Phoenix Valley that takes roosters - I can't remember the name right now. Usually we would send them to freezer camp but I'm just not feeling it right now. My DH was ready last week but I became so anxious it just was horrid and I begged him to let me rehome them or take them to this place. SO having the name that takes roosters would be helpful. Thanks.

You know, I probably will. I'd like to pick up some blue laced red wyandottes, so maybe i"ll get a couple of hens and a roo when I find someone who actually has them available.

In all honesty, I didn't really want the hassle of having a roo and irritating the neighbors, but he was such a handsome guy I didn't want to part with him or send him away to freezer camp. Now that he's gone, I'm not sure I want to replace him just yet. he kinda grew on me and I'll have to find the right guy to fill his shoes.

I looked under the Arizona breeders listed on the BYC breeders list, I but couldn't find any that were doing the BLRW's. Maybe someone has them in another state? Other states are also listed in it here:

Here are pics of the roos I'd love to rehome. They are about 14 weeks old. The cuckoo maran (1st pic) is very randy already and has tried breeding some of my girls. The second is the EE - he is feathering nicely and the third one is the welsummer who will be a beautiful roo. He has delightful colors already and his waddles and comb are nicely formed. Message me if you are interested. I'm not selling them - just want to rehome. ALSO does anyone remember who it is that takes roos in the Phoenix Valley area? The word Pratt sticks in my brain but I'm not sure about who it is. I'd like to call to see if maybe that will work. Thanks.
