Bisbee is a great place, we stayed there in an Air-BNB. I would like to get a good meat breed Del or RIW when I am able!thats soooo wonderful...!! iim sooo happy for every one you and your hens i know you love them and Jeff will just love his new chicken friends ..!!!! and i will go visit them all at Jeffs place .
yeah you got that right their gossip sessions are crazy noisy but i enjoy every bit of it, i love to hear my hens singing & singing the happy egg song...lol... and all the different breeds are all singing a different song for their breed , so it all becomes a kaleidoscope of different sounds HA but hey yeah excellent info thanks for your help , i never saw any thing like it ever again in any of my 75 other girls that hen was 2 , so fingers crossed i never will again , i do keep a large cooler on for them on my back porch is were they like to lay their eggs my husband built them many nest boxes on the back porch so we could see all our girls right out our glass doors, they love to be close to us , & thats were my broodies choose to nest ,all my girls go out free ranging every day , i have lots of fruit trees & shade trees for them to be cool under , Bisbee never usually gets over 90 most days so they all are cool & happy , i do keep a large cooler on for them if its hot, but thats not usual , so thanks again nice to met you have a great day take care
hi there Parront, how are you doing..? yes Bisbee is a great place never to hot or cold but usually just right HA, about the RIW one thing the RIW they are small birds to small for meat, but lay big eggs most like the RIR, but much sweeter...! i love mine so funny and always want to sit on my lap...HA, i say they would be great chickens for kids..! take care

How big are they? I want a ~3-4 lb eating bird. That lays eggs!
well i would look into the cornish meat birds, i dont know much about them , but did hear they are calm birds, my tractor supply in douglas AZ has those chicks right now, i saw them last Wednesday wile down there buying feed. they also had white leghorns, i did want a few of theos ,but the workers didn't have a lable on the white leg horns from the Cornish chicks & they all looked alike andalso they were straight run to, so geeezzzer...? i think ill wait till next spring, and order a few white leghorns with the tractor supply , they take separate orders , that way i dont have to buy 15 chicks at a time from a hatchery when i only want 2 or 4 white leg horns, so yeah thats the best way to get what you want.
Yes, I have raised the cornish-x, but they are not very good birds. Too lame and too sad. The kids called them the "fat biddies" -- not in a hurry because I am still looking for a good place to roost with the whole flock. I liked the area you are in, but it was no OK with the spouse!
One reason I joined was to meet folks who could split such an order. When I had chickens, I had to order 25 or 50, no in between. So, I ordered 50, 20 of them Cornish meat birds. Learn from my experience, do not do this!
yeah one thing about Bisbee not a lot of jobs , but its not far from sierra vista AZ a much larger city with malls and all. but Bisbee is soooo much quieter and really no crime and a pretty happy place, it seems its more for the partly retired folks like me HA , i say partly because my flock is a lot of work , but i do enjoy it , so im my own worse boss...HA i do own 2 properties here in the quite end of Bisbee on the other side of the city but only one mile from all the shopping, and cant see any of it , i like my peace & quite coming from a 350 acre farm in CT , so both my places are that, but then again very close to the shopping, hard ware and banks & etc up the hill on the main road .so if any one is looking for a place to raise their chickens , i have 75 in my flock and its all legal...! the other place i own is just down the street from my home & both places are all chain linked fenced.
but about the cornish x i didnt know that
