I CANNOT believe how big they have gotten! They are like full blown chickens now! And very pretty :love That marshmallow is one good looking fellow, love his patterns and coloring.

They do look big! The camera makes them look a lot bigger though, they can still fit their whole body in my one hand! Lol I'll have to take another photo to compare that lol

They are also afraid to go to bed at night they cry as they go and some stand on top of others bc they want to be really close.... that will change soon enough lol

Well, all of my shipped eggs that I received yesterday in good condition are now in my incubator. 17 B/B/S Rattlesnake Ridge line Australorp Eggs, and the 12 White Breese eggs. Those should hatch out on April 4th or 5th. I will be growing these one's out and taking a break from hatching for a while after this.

Uh huh. I've heard that before :gig

Well, I want to wait on doing another hatch until the Crested Cream Legbars are old enough to start laying good and breeding so that I can snatch their pretty blue eggs! And beside's after these other eggs hatch, there will hopefully be a lot of grow-outs. I will be picking what one's that I want to keep for my future breeding. I still have 6 of the chicks that are the NN-Australorp mix available that are out there in the outside chick pen if anyone might be interested in those.

Just wanted to share a quick story about how sweet my Australorp is...this morning the nest box was FULL. For whatever reason, four hens needed to lay all at the same time. The two nests were taken by Artemis and my barred rock, so there was a lot of squawking and commotion as they tried to hurry one another along and get the best nest spot. The poor red star was about to pop, and she just couldn't find a good spot, so she sat on top on Artemis and plopped her egg right on top of her! Good thing Artemis is so nice, or it could have ended in a fight or a broken egg! It was so funny to watch the whole thing.

:gig too cute! That's a sweet story you're lucky to have seen it, I love it when I get to see the cute dramas going on reminds me of last year when Clucky couldn't find a good spot and the poor thing started walking funny and it plopped right out of her as she walked

My mom has a hen that escapes their run every day. She follows my dad around the yard while he digs up weeds and eats any grubs or insects he displaces. She chases their dogs about, and walks in and out of the house if they leave the back door open. She also tears out all of the grass, so my dad isn’t too thrilled :lau I think she’s a white leghorn.

Wow I'm really enjoying these little ones, I forgot about all the scratches you get from them as they hop up and teeter on you though.. rubbing alcohol here I come lol
I know they've bonded to me bc they were crying at dusk to me and I led them to the coop, and they followed me in and got on the roosts so cute!

Anyone else thinking of getting new babies?
