Where do the Tucson Folks shop for their feed? I've only been grabbing the Nature Serve starter/grower at ACE Hardware since that's what they've been started on. I haven't been to OK Feed and Supply lately, but gotta make a run to get some things. I don't know if they sell and Purena products for poultry.

We get our feed at Triple L out in Marana. It's way south for us, but it's the closest. They are family owned and give great service. I get the Nutrena country feeds brand, but they have Purina layena and several others to choose from. It would likely be quite the drive for you, but if you ever head to Phoenix you may want to check them out. Right off the freeway.

I but dumor chick 20% the higher protein level has seemed to do well for my hens I don't do layer any longer and I don't think I ever will I just supply oyster separately for the hens and let fhem regulate their intake which has worked out better


I tried nutriena they didn't like it, some organic feed that tsc sells which turned bright green when it got wet and the honey bees flocked to it all day like 100 of them so that was a no go, they like Purina OK but it doesn't sell fast so I think it's older so I avoid it and dumor is what they eat best and is easy to find and the bees don't eat it lol

Another concern for me would be, for those who don't make their own feed recipes or belong to a co-op that specializes in a balanced grain, what COMMERCIAL layer feeds are you using? Mine are approaching that mark. Purina, Layena...there are multiple choices out there and hope you would share with the rest of us.

My wife has a plan on what she wants to do for feed. Although I really haven't asked yet, I need to get the run build before I even start to think about the coop and food!
Shade cloth as far as I know comes in 50% and 70% at most places. It can't be ordered in different shades though. I would think it would help hide the chickens from other animals sight.

I've fed my girls Bar Ale since I brought them home, just switched to the layer, non gmo no soy or corn. About $20 for 40 lbs at pet club. We tried other brands, they didn't like it.

I'm in the middle of a hatch right now, with 3 White Breese chicks coming out. I still have 7 more of those eggs for them to go yet.

FYI - some of the them will start out looking like they have yellow legs, but they turn blue over the next few weeks. Bresse are weird like that... ;p
