Not sure if they would accept. It would be a good question to someone in the Health Field. Never know when that extra dose available could save a life. :idunno
I am one that likes to repurpose things, and never waste something that has value. I am one that will list things FREE on Craig's List, rather than simply throw away. I'm not the only one with that attitude. :)

I guess that it could be something that people could check into according to their state. If they would accept them, you would have to count on the lab either paying the shipping fees to have them sent to them, or if they would have to be delivered by the person it couldn't be too far of a drive. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't drive far to have to drop one off to them, and I wouldn't pay to have one shipped to them. They make too much money off of the anti-venom. They should pay for it!

Do any of you seasoned members remember Gallo Del Cielo? He used to post here quite a bit, and I think it's been years since hearing from him.

I have no idea who that person was. There are many people that first started this thread that disappeared. Maybe they moved away to another state, or just don't have a flock to talk about anymore?

His postings may have gone back as far as 2008, but he was around when I joined in 2012. He was very knowledgeable and offered a lot of advice for us AZ folks.

I have heard of venom harvesting as well, and there is also a need for scorpion venom for anti-venom purposes. It would be great to find a contact who could utilize our creepy creatures. I have also heard that if you are ever bit by a rattler, you could potentially save your own life if you're able to kill the snake and bring it with you to the hospital, so they know exactly which variety you were bit by and can use the correct anti-venom...not sure how much truth there is to this. The last thing I would be doing if I were to get bit is chase the thing around and bag it up...I'd be long down the dirt road to the nearest hospital by then!
