Arizona Chickens

Emma is broody on 6 eggs the other 3 girls have been outside all day while I clean their pens. Had to hose them d/t the lice. I’m going to sprinkle de on the bottom before I add the pine chips. I put Emma in a rabbit cage in my bedroom. Cool and quiet for her.

Did some updating to the house that we can do. We have to put our one cat down. She is 16 and skinny. She has a bad smell to her too. She is still eating very little and drinking. She is our last pet we brought from Pennsylvania. Sweet Scarlett.

Good thoughts to my home town. They are flooded. Roads turned into rivers. All my family is safe.

It's always hard to loose an old pet. She has had a pretty good run in life to be 16 years old. My dad's dog that I inherited lived to be 18 before I had to have him put to sleep. He had a stroke, and ran into walls, and couldn't find the food dish on his own anymore.

Where was your home town that is flooded?

I hope that Emma hatches out all 6 eggs for you!

I didn't get one for Buster this year, since he tore up the ligament in one of his back legs somehow. The vet gave me a couple of med's to give him, and I have only been letting him outside to to his duties, and bring him back in right away. We are trying to keep him calm and quiet to see if it will heal.

We have the same pool! Although ours is a bit dirtier than yours haha. That Frankie is such a little cutie.

My chickens have been getting tomatoes and watermelon this week. Next up is kiwi fruit that I bought too much of. Yes, spoiled indeed!
@Michelle Guynn so sorry to hear about your cat, we have reached the same point with our oldest dog over here. He is 14 and has seizures. He has some days that are better than others, but we know in our hearts it's almost time. It's really hard to make that decision. It does help to know that they won't be suffering anymore though, and you gave them the gift of a long, happy life.

I forgot to mention, one of my girls laid an egg in the water pool yesterday :p @meetthebubus werent you just talking about that happening with your girls too? Haha I guess someone is getting really comfortable in their little pool. Taking the whole "water birth" thing seriously!

Also, a question about molting. The Wyandotte lost feathers on her back, and new ones are coming through. Now she's starting to lose the feathers on her neck. Is this normal? Her tail and wing feathers haven't come out at all. I'm just not sure what to expect, as this is our first real molt. Right now she's looking like a bare backed NN!

Completely normal. It's part of the molting process. The wing feathers come in later, and the tail feathers usually come in last.

He's still not healed up yet? I suppose they do take a while to heal. I bet he's cooler in the house anyway.
