I am looking for two dozens of fertile eggs to put in an incubator. We did that last year as a science project for my son and he liked the experience.
We are trying to stay away from naked necks this time. We almost lost one that got bitten in her neck by the rooster.

My Buff orps have gone into molt so they aren't laying at all right now, I'm getting lots of Easter egger eggs, they are young layers so their shells are strong, very pretty chicks, I just hatched one myself 2 weeks ago. If interested private message me the following is one as a chick, and the rooster who is fertilizing the eggs

Are those black thing's that are attaching the hardware wire to the fencing those plastic tie-band's? If they are, I hope that you know that they won't last long out here in our sun and windy days. I used those before on my shade cloth that cover's my run and had to keep replacing them. I finally just used pieces of wire to hold them down. Those have been working out much better, and I haven't had to replace them again. Just a suggestion for you from my own experience.

Good to know. They're the outside kind, so I was hoping they would hold up. Well, I can always go through and replace with wire later I guess.

I suspect the things that are supposed to be "outdoor" quality are designed with the northeast in mind or something. I don't know about anybody else but those little white roller handles on buckets never last very long here at all. Although I have found that darker colors like black and dark blue last longer than lighter colors.

@Geranium I use the outside kind as well and have had no problem. Mine also have shade and not too much direct sun. The ones on my shade structure is in direct sun and I will have to cut them this winter when I replace the 5 year old shade cloth. @BlueBaby has lots of direct sun if I remember right. The outdoor ones barely look stressed on the shade structure. I believe they will both work out - you just work your way through it as needed.
@cactusrota - I agree the handles don't generally last a year but my DH puts a rope wrap over the handle and it lasts much longer. The rope wrap was so I could grip the handles easier - my hand have ugly rheumatoid in them.

We have the outside kind too, and they have worked for us so far (over a year now)...but @BlueBaby is right, our weather is harsh on anything plastic so it's definitely something to keep an eye on. Knowing my chickens the first thing they would do if one came off is EAT IT

yes, thank you his personality is very mellow i can still pick him up at times and cuddle with him, he'll sit with me, but is very macho and prances around like a fancy horse lol

his mellow personality seems to have passed down to my new chick as I hold her she just sits so calm in my hand and mellow.
