It look's like I'm going to have another new chick by morning sometime. I'm seeing a tell-tale little chip in one of the last 4 eggs still in my incubator. I just hope that it doesn't storm too bad that it knocks out the electric.

I do have some ready, but it will work if I am still awake if the electric goes out. If I am sleeping, that could be a different story.

My incubator is styrofoam, so a candle might melt it.

My chickies turned three weeks old yesterday! No pink on any combs thus far. Fingers crossed. Agatha is my sweetie lap chicken. Blue, Flower, and one of the Australorps also enjoyed some lap time.

I hope everyone in the Phoenix area is doing ok in the rain, looks like lots of flooding in some areas. Stay safe out there.

@meetthebubus You're right, I will get it all figured out in there. We got more wood chips today (that are nice and DRY lol) and they will replace the muck in the nest box tomorrow after the rain has gone and the leak is fixed. We found open weak spots on the back of the nest box roof, so the rain came in and poured down the wall. My husband is using caulk on the leak so we can't really do anything until the rains stop, and I'll have to keep the hens out of there for the day. The run should dry out in about a day since it's well ventilated. I'm still a bigger fan of dirt and sand at this point, but this will work until spring/summer! I agree with you, we are constantly updating and tweaking things in there to better suit their needs. One of these days we will finish the garden fencing and they can come out of the run to free range in their own yard We expanded the garden but the fence is not totally dog proof yet, so it's on the to do list!

No flooding around me but we are sitting at about 3 inches since this started Sunday night. 2.5 inches of the 3 that fell last night into today

The rain wasn't too awful bad here neither. Most of it has already soaked into the ground with only a few puddles still out there. They did have to close off a few roads where the washes run at in the city of Maricopa, but I am a bit rural.
