Arizona Chickens

Lost my flock last night :/ coyotes got into the yard it seems. We found a small hole in fence about the size a cat door would be but the prints were too large for a fox. Lost 9 birds 8 laying hens and a roo. 3 hens still here but I cant figure out how they got the birds out of the coup. 1.5x3 in horse fencing and chainlink comprise the defense of the coup and there are no areas open. Seems the birds left the coup for some reason while I was at work.

Short version I need more chickens again, sooo any one in the central area have eggs on a incubator? I lost EEs and RIRs.

I don't have the 2 breed's that you had, but I do have hatching egg's, chicks, and 5 hen's that are already laying for sale.

Thank you for the offer a friend offered to run her incubator and try to hatch 12 of our eggs we collected yesterday. So if the 3 I have atm cant keep up with eggs I may have to get a layer from you.

Ok, all of my hen's lay eggs. Of the 5 hen's that I am selling 1 is a Splash Australorp, 1 is a Crested Cream Legbar, and 3 are White Breese. Oh, and there is a 6th hen also, but she's a mix of Australorp/Crested Cream Legbar (lay's green egg's).

@13lue Sorry to hear about the breach. I know you said central AZ but I'm not remembering where. I'm sure someone here is growing babies - they are all such hatchaholics!! Hopefully you can shore everything up to protect the hens you have left. Now to rebuild.
@starri33 wet, wet, wet but not horrid cold - kinda a breeze or two but we have had so much rain we have mud puddles! Chickies are not pleased but they are coping with their other areas. Crazy how our weather has been. Said tomorrow will be kinda wet but drying, and the rest of the week dry and sunny......I'm looking forward to that!! AND my chicken yard is looking forward to that!!
I went to town earlier, I was fish tailing going down our road, I guess the last time the county graded, they hit a patch of clay..lol, slimy as all get out, thankfully I don't have that kinda issue in the run.

Your location always confuses me because there's actually a town called Central here near Safford in Graham County. If that was where you actually lived you'd be close enough I could donate a few Naked Necks... :-/

@13lue oh I am so sorry to hear about your flock. That's awful. I hope you're able to replenish and rebuild.

This weather has been wild! I'm not a fan of the freezing cold. The chickens seem fine but I will be happy when we warm up again. At least yesterday and today have been nice. I gave the chickens some cucumber, sage and grapes this afternoon and plan to spend some time in the coop with them tomorrow. We are still designing the new coop & run for when we move in April. I want a simple little chicken yard for them, fenced off from the dogs, with a weather proof coop where they can roost and lay. I would love for the run to be without a roof, so they are sort of free ranging, but safe from the dogs. I worry about predators like hawks though. They would also need shade so I'm not sure what we will build yet...
