Arizona Chickens

ok ,
dumb question.....
Is Naked Neck a breed?
or just a feather pattern?
thanks...

No, your question isn't dumb. It is a way for you to educate yourself. NN/Turken's are a breed. They carry the NN gene. They can be bred to other breed's that do not have that gene, and the resulting chick's that hatches from that match will have some with fully feathered neck's, and some will inherit one copy of the NN gene but will have the bibbed neck's.

Been gone for a bit checking in and catching up. Down to 9 eggs in the incubator lost one 2 days ago to a lid mishap :( friend hit the egg in the corner with the lid after candling. Should be hatching some time this week coming up.

Sorry that happened to one of your egg's. What are you hatching over there?

Today being Sunday my grandsons will be here again. The little dood broke his clavicle playing tag at the park so there's that.

Going grocery shopping after dogs play at the park, then laundry and get ready for the week.

Chickens are almost done with their molt, just waiting for the new feathers to finish growing in on a few. I'm getting about 4 eggs a day from 7 layers right now.

What's up with you @BlueBaby

My girls are picking up speed again.. 12 hen's at laying age, 4 (I am hoping) will be ready to add to the group, giving me 16 hens, have two roo's. Averaging 5 to 6 egg's per day now.. They really slowed down this year. I've currently got 6 eggs in the incubator, testing out the new humidikit. So far so good, it's keeping the humidity stable, the incubator is doing good on the heat. Got my 24 count incubator in yesterday.. :) , will need to figure out a adjustment so that I can use the humidifier on it. the vent hole is to small for it. So will need to look at either taping the hose in place or enlarging the vent hole.

What's everyone up to today? How are your chicken's doing? Are you getting any more egg's now? Mine are all doing good, even the 3 chick's that are in the grow-out pen.
I have people that tell me my hatching is "to late" in the season, do you have that issue? I personally don't see what the issue is, if a hen decided to go broody she wouldn't really care if it was snow or sun flowers on the ground.

May have an egg bound chicken. Can anyone tell me the symptoms? She won’t come out of the box and when she does she has her wings out and is walking funny. Also missing feathers underneath her

All good here! Gonna go look at a piece of property in Cornville today that's right on the creek and has grandfathered-in water rights! :love
I have 8 hens between 1.5 and 3 years old, who completely stopped laying this winter for about 8 weeks. 4 out of 8 are now laying again, three of them kinda sporadically, but I've been getting an egg every single day since new years eve from my coming 2 year old BBS Ameraucana/BC Marans olive egger. She is a laying machine!!! LOL Not to mention very pretty and sweet!
