Arizona Chickens

@BlueBaby this is the new configuration of my incubator and humidikit. Water collects in the ribs of the hose on tge humidifier and was dripping into the incubator. I moved it to a lower point and that helped quite a bit.

I taped the hose to the bottle to keep it straight, seems to have issues with water uptake if I don't keep it like that.

I'm pretty sure I've worked out the kinks, going to use it for my chicken eggs for the HAL and see how it works out. It's a bit quirky but I like it so far.

Hopefully it will all continue to work good for you through you hatch. I'd try to get more thing's for mine, but I don't see where I would be able to put it in there. Hubby pretty much took up that whole room to store a bunch of stuff in. I was lucky to be able to fit the dog crate brooder in there, so I sat the incubator on top of that.

Another question. A friend gave me a bag of organic cut comfrey leaves. Can I feed these to my chickie girls. Google is kinda misleading so I'm not sure. Have any of you fed it to them? Thanks.....
I have heard that comfrey is not to be taken internally because of the hairs, but that was for humans and other mammals. Not sure about birds. I would give it to them in small amounts at a time just to be sure. It's normally used for external healing salves.

There's not much ventilation, it can help keep your birds dry and warm in winter and cool in summer. Also prevents moisture build up so they don't get frostbite. Are you going to put an a/c unit in the window for summer??

It's not just you. I agree.

Have vents along the top edges and will be putting in windows for cross ventilation. for now the door will stay open. they are in the new coop and run..

Yup, I agree.

24 itty bitty peeps so far :love

There are still 7 eggs in the incubator, tomorrow was supposed to be hatch day.

Congrat's on your hatch! Were those hatching egg's from your own flock?

Thanks! Only 1 and it hatched. I bought 44 eggs from a local guy and tossed 14 clears/early quitters at day 10.
I know my roo does his job so I may put him with females from this group and see what I get. In the interim I might also hatch a few from my current ladies before we put them in the freezer and see if I get another male I like. Not sure yet.

Morning ya’all... love the spring season.. We plant for the wildlife.. The hummingbirds love these different varieties of aloes.. if you look close you can see the white spider minding his own business..View attachment 1707925View attachment 1707926View attachment 1707927

Do your chickens consume the aloe? I'd like to plant some in my backyard (aka "Chicken Yard), but I don't want them destroying them after I throw out my back digging in the dirt/rock here to plant them.

Speaking about aloe, I have a big batch of it growing by my back porch that need's to be trimmed back again. If someone want's some of it you are welcome to come and get some free aloe. I hate having to trim it back and it goes to waste. The patch of it is so big that some are growing on top of each other.

Edit: The type that I have is like that one that is right behind the cat in the above picture that @City farm posted.
