13/13 3 from my flock were tossed at day 7. 1 I pretty much knew wasn't fertile. Fugly HATES one of the nn girls. She's an egg eater and the killing cone arrived today she's a beautiful bird! But she's going first, then the ee and Welsummer are next.

I've heard that an egg eater won't stop doing that, and that it could end up teaching the rest of them to eat them too.

The rest of the flock seems to leave them unless broken. It won't be long for her at this point.

Good morning AZ

I have begun the daily heat prep outside. Waders are out, extra waterers are in place and my drapes are probably drawn shut for the next few months. I hope we have a mild summer though

I moved the last 4 chicks to the brooder this morning. I'm using a bunny hutch I got from TSC. The heat plate is in the cabinet side. When I opened it this morning it was nice and toasty in there for them. I've never brooded this way before but so far I like it pretty well. I put hwc over the grate bottom for better footing and then papertowels over that for now. We'll see how it goes.

The fat head in front there belongs to Frank. He's very interested as you can see. He keeps licking his chops I told him he needs to wait until they're bigger, they'll be meals not snacks!

@igorsMistress Look's good! You might have to add some hardware cloth wire on the front if the chick's hop up on the feeder and decide to get curious sticking the heads out between those bar's. That's why I put the hardware cloth wire on the bottom of my wire dog crate. I ran it a foot up, and had to do both of my door's separately so that I could still be able to open and close them. It's working out well.
