I was looking for standard size breeds and was hoping to find eggs locally. I found a lady that sells her eggs on
ebay and lives in Wickenburg ( e-bay name is: teresac928 ) . She has been working on a 'blue partridge' color ameraucana for 4 years and almost all of her chicks in the last two years have been 'blue partridge'. It's not a standard ameraucana color and even though she is working towards blue eggs, the eggs were still green, so I'm not sure if that makes them EEs, but either way, I'm still happy. She was very nice and easy to meet up with - the 10 eggs were laid in the last couple days before I received them, so hopefully we will have a successful hatch.
Thats Awesome! How come you wont be able to keep the chicks? Sorry Im full of questions
It's a space issue. We built our coop/run for 8-10 chickens, but currently have 13. They are getting along fine and do free-range for about 4 hours each day, but they don't have 10 sf per chicken in their run (run is almost 100 sf - perfect for 10 chickens). Our goal was to get down to 10 or 11 chickens, but I'm not doing very well at getting there
If we happen to fall in love with the new chicks and my girls are willing to give up some more of their hens, we may keep a few chicks and sell some hens, but I'm guessing we will probably end up selling the chicks instead. Unless...... my husband is up to making a second coop/run (but, I doubt it - he was great the first time, but I don't think he'll see the need for a second one).
