I was looking for standard size breeds and was hoping to find eggs locally. I found a lady that sells her eggs on ebay and lives in Wickenburg ( e-bay name is: teresac928 ) . She has been working on a 'blue partridge' color ameraucana for 4 years and almost all of her chicks in the last two years have been 'blue partridge'. It's not a standard ameraucana color and even though she is working towards blue eggs, the eggs were still green, so I'm not sure if that makes them EEs, but either way, I'm still happy. She was very nice and easy to meet up with - the 10 eggs were laid in the last couple days before I received them, so hopefully we will have a successful hatch.

It's a space issue. We built our coop/run for 8-10 chickens, but currently have 13. They are getting along fine and do free-range for about 4 hours each day, but they don't have 10 sf per chicken in their run (run is almost 100 sf - perfect for 10 chickens). Our goal was to get down to 10 or 11 chickens, but I'm not doing very well at getting there

If we happen to fall in love with the new chicks and my girls are willing to give up some more of their hens, we may keep a few chicks and sell some hens, but I'm guessing we will probably end up selling the chicks instead. Unless...... my husband is up to making a second coop/run (but, I doubt it - he was great the first time, but I don't think he'll see the need for a second one).

I was lost exploring the mess of cages they had. At the time, people weren't aloud to go into the shed with the chickens because they were judging.
 
Yeah the comments in the online article were very ignorant.

On a happier note, my light brahma (named HotWing) that I thought there was something wrong with, turns out nothing is wrong except for the fact that she is a he. I am so happy nothing was wrong.

Will my first mistake happened this week, the first of many probably. That worthless henhut came from Murry McMurray hatchery and we put the base together on night. today I pulled it out to look at it with the thought of putting the chicks inside the walls of this thing so they could enjoy the grass while I cleaned out their tub. A section started to fall apart on the first move to the grass, I though it was a fluke section...well i kept going (stupid thing to do) by the time I got into shade another section came loose. I still did not give it up... I proped it up a bit, put the chicks in there, looked safe enough for the minute I needed to clean the tub.........I Felt a quick wind, looked back and watched in low motion as it all started to cave in. I looked like an I love lucy show trying to hold the walls and gather chicks while this earth quake of wire and wood did its thing. this rickety cheep henhut will probably take more money to fix than it took to buy (and it was not that cheep)....No more Murry McMurray for me.
 
Murray McMurray only distributes things that might sell well, and they have excellent customer service. I have had poultry orders from 4 hatcheries and many private owners this year, and only Murray McMurray orders have come in with none dead on arrival and most still healthy. I do find their items for regular sale a bit overprices, I could find it cheaper, because they are buying it and reselling it.
 
Hey Zonies....Just a reminder the heat is upon us. My lamb escaped and knocked the shade off of a pair of Columbian Rock Bantams, and when I went out at 10:30 this morning they were down, panting, catatonic. I grabbed them, sprayed them down, and put them inside and they were dead in an hour. It was 90 degrees, but the direct sun was too much for them. Keep it cool
