Arizona Chickens

Sorry to hear about your baby, :( , your plaque is there, sounds like your friend was suffering a bad case of chicken math..lol, I've had to sit down a few times and do another head count on my collection. I know I'm close to 50 +/-.

Morning peeps.. had a fun adventure helping a neighbor that had a client rehome part of their flock..We were told about 30 chickens needed new homes.. Glad we brought plenty of young muscle, there were 52 caught & rehomed.. Some (4) were sitting on egg’s so all the mommas went home with the same person.. other sad news our avatar “cheryl” the kitty chicken passed in the last heat wave, she was almost 7 years old.. This photo of her raising her last flock spring 2018.. We planted her under a new tree in their run.. I did get a alert we got our 7 year old plaque on here.. I don’t see it as I write this but maybe after the post it will show up..

I have lost birds to the heat in the past. I'm so sorry for your loss :hugsWhat a great way to remember her though!

@igorsMistress Thank you for asking and @BlueBaby thank you for calling. We had his funeral this morning and an early cowboy lunch - hot dogs (food of the gods) and hamburgers with beans and all the other fixings. Cowboy that Glenn was. I have done alright so far - I keep saying in 3 months I'll probably be under a rock! There is still so much to do with social security, etc....etc. Kids are here and I'm loving that. Thanks everyone for asking.
On another note...I too lost a girl to heat - older girl but still - never easy. Otherwise they have been doing okay without misters this year. Take care friends we have more, more and more heat coming!!

I'm glad that you are ok. :hugs

I haven't been running the mister's at all this year, and haven't lost any to the heat. Mine aren't all that old yet, and the Naked Neck's are handling the heat pretty good. I've even had 2 of them that went broody on me, and one of them is still trying to hatch 3 plastic egg's.

I'm happy to know you're doing ok. My dad is an old cowboy too, he would approve of that lunch!
No hiding under rocks, we like to hear from you. :hugs

I forgot to mention, our neighbors got this cute guy about a month ago.. He sounds like a hyena and is super soft. They have a pony but they are keeping them separated for a bit. They are also wanting a mini donkey & a alpaca.

Hot out there today. Here is a recipe for a hydration drink. We add fresh squeezed lemon, lime, or other juice to it. It is like (“IV”)what you would get when you were in the hospital..Mix ingredients into 1 liter of H20.. Blue container behind the glass.. Be safe out there..
