Arizona Chickens

NN/Marans cross with dark eggs - sometimes chocolate colored - plus the bulk of the Marans could be a beautiful cross. I have a NN/Welsummer cross that gives me darker eggs with the Welsummer spots. I love looking at my eye candy. Plus if you have a blue gene can't you get olive colored eggs?

Yes, you could do that. If any of the 6 BCM's hatch, I might keep a pullet, but any cockerel would have to go for sure as I'm not breeding for the BCM's.

Edit: Come to re-think about that idea. BCM's have those feather's on their leg's. My NN's don't. It would take time to work those feathered leg's out of the NN's, if I crossed those with my NN's I would have the NN's with feathered leg's for a while. I'm not sure I would want to go that route.

Here's an idea for a nesting box for those who might be new to getting chicken's. It's a re-purposed old double sink.

:D Good Morning, candled my egg's last night and all are growing well. 16th is the expected hatch date. Got another blue egg out of the NN's.. can't wait to hatch some of those, I think today is boot the babies out of the grow out pen. Been holding off on them as my one little NN Pullet isn't as big as my smallest hen. That way I can get it cleaned up and ready for the new ones. Glad spring is on it's way, the hens have picked up the pace, I've collected 43 eggs in the past two days.

Today was eviction day for my three in the grow out.. now I can get it cleaned out and ready for the new hatch. My one from a NN egg turned out full feathered with some amazing colors, not sure I will be able too, but I'd like to keep him and breed him over the little blue clean neck and see what kinda colors I end up with.

Apologies for jumping in the middle of this thread, but it was suggested that I post here to help find new home my blue ameraucana. Any assistance with finding her a good home is appreciated!

I hope that someone here will take her. I see that she lay's the light blue egg's over in the link that you gave. I just hatched a batch of chick's last month that I am currently growing out and introducing to my flock, and I have a full incubator of hatching egg's going, so I don't want to take on a new hen right now.
