Arizona Chickens

I can see it now. Sitting on a bucket, Lipstick in one hand, hen on lap, other hand spreading feathers...

When My partner walks in and stares at me with tha look, you all know the one.

Mouth opening and closing several times before asking "What ARE you doing?"
:lau :yuckyuck, I'd have to sneak around like a thief in the night to catch mine.. They don't like being held..lol.. Sooner or later I'll catch who ever is doing it.

Personally, this is when I get out the "fake eggs" be they golf balls or really fake eggs. This usually takes care of the problem of getting them in the nest. Mostly its about being safe and if there is already an egg in the nest - then it must be safe. Good luck!!
I think I need to rethink their nest boxes.. there really isn't any privacy in the ones they have now, add in that I have more 2 more hens laying. I have 2 boxes and each box will hold 2 hens at the same time with room to spare. So I'll have to look at doing different boxes, I set up these boxes on top of milk crates, bending down or getting down in the floor is getting impossible for me anymore. I collected 4 eggs out of there so far, 1 blue on in the top of the oyster shell can again, 2 in one of the nests and then the one that gets laid in the corner. I've got at least one more coming out of that coop and another two or three coming out of the main flock.

Good Morning, no blue eggs yesterday out of the NN coop :( , but collected 20 eggs over all. my little NN hen that was laying in the corner has now taken up laying in a bucket out there, she must have encouraged someone else, as I found two eggs in there yesterday, Hubby calls me the chicken whisperer, I think she's going to strike again, candled the 6 NN eggs I have in the incubator last night and all 6 are viable. Can't wait for the chicks. will be interesting to see what color's I get, they are from one of my black NN hens and Charlie.
