Arizona Chickens

@BlueBaby did you weigh it? Its always an eye opener. I once had one that was 4.3 ounces which is bigger than a jumbo egg - it was gigantic. I've had 3.7 and 3.4 too. All of them big. We posted on FB with "small, medium, large, x-large and ouch" - got lots of laughs.

I don't have a scale for weighing the egg's, but I guess that I should get one. I do know that the pullet's egg from today is bigger than the NN hen's egg that lay's the biggest egg here. The pullet's egg felt heavier in my hand too, compared to the other one. I would have definitely called it an "ouch" egg, as you say.

I think that I got another double yolker out of one of my Barnevelder pullet's today. That egg is even bigger than the big egg that one of my Naked Neck hen lay's! That poor girl! It would be like a human woman trying to push out a watermelon! I hope that she will be ok!
My hens that I believe are leghorns lay bright white eggs the size of que balls sometimes..lol, cracked them open and they were just single yolks.. I cringe everytime I find one.

Good morning AZ. It has been raining here since before I got up and the chickens are hanging out in the coops to stay dry. I gave them a special breakfast this morning, wet chick food mixed with some scratch, grubs and oatmeal. Apparently it was worth braving the rain for. Stay high and dry everyone and have a great weekend.

Good Morning, we've just been getting sprinkles off and on, some of my flock has been hanging out inside and others are out pecking or trying to take a dust bath, she ought to be a muddy mess if it starts raining any harder..lol.

We're under a flash flood watch until 11 pm. It's not pouring, but it's a decent amount and steady.

Do you have eggs in your incubator yet?

Wow, be safe if you have to go out, I'm not planning on going out if I can help it..lol.. hubby doesn't know it yet, but he's the runner today if it has to be done. I had enough for my taste buds yesterday. 3 hours of sitting in the doctors office with a tail bone that didn't want to be sitting. Almost 2 at discount tire to get them rotated and one fixed. Getting ready to set some eggs for a friend, 2 leghorn (? bright white) 2 olive eggers and 2 NN's. she's wanting 3 hens, so I am not taking a chance on them all being roo's if I only set 3 eggs. Lol, at least that is my story and I am sticking to it..

I used the egg last night for Buster's night time allergy med. It was a double yolker and had two nice sized yolk's in it. It sure had to have stretched her vent out to lay that one though. I hope that if she lay's another one like that it won't have blood on it next time. No, I don't have a food scale neither. If I do get one, I will have to hide it from DH because he would probably use it for something and then misplace it.
