Arizona Chickens

We will see how they are. Can not tell from a hatchery, until you try. Just from reading the web site they are probably better for laying than for meat.
It turns out all my chicks are from Ideal.. I dont know anything about their (or anyones) bird quality, but I hope they turn out nice. So far they all look cute.. but they are little fluffs.

It is just very easy to order from a web site. They put 25 in a box and if you do not order 25 pullets, they will fill up the box with males. I was not ready for males for the first ones! After they find all the problems here then I will have some males from those Barred Hollands.

Over 200 eggs a year is ok. What do they say that the hen's weight is?
I had to go back to their site to refresh my old memory. They say females 7.5 pounds, males 9.5 pounds. Why I wanted to see them is they do not sell just the males without ordering females, which made me think the males are good to raise for meat. The claimed weight is something that remains to be proved, sometimes the advertisement is not equal to the reality! I got 5 hens to see, I like nice white birds.

Yes, I also went there to look. The weight of the mature hen's is good enough for me. I think that the reason why they are holding unto the boy's unless you get the females is because they are used on those Cornish X.

The pet store I got them from makes a 100 bantam mix order once a week. However, they haven't made anymore orders.. and I see one mille fleur d'uccle that I think is female! I've successfully resisted so far, but I know my current mille fleur is a male, comb is coming in fast. So its tempting! Trying really hard to wait and see what I've got in my little brood first!

Ugh, but for $5.99, should I even be waiting!?!?!

It depend's on how bad you want it.
I guess I need to chill.. I already have 5 here, rooster insurance, and only want a max of 3. I think one of the D'uccles are a male, but I have no idea on the 2 silkies yet.

The silkies dont seem friendly at all. I dont know if that's a male behavior or typical 4 week old silkie behavior. But they hate to be held or petted. They scream and scratch the whole time. The D'Uccles love it and fall asleep on me.
