Arizona Chickens

I cannot wait for eggs.. only 4 more months to go! 🤣 And ordering the DNA test is like waiting on pregnancy tests! Given it is close enough to 5pm in Florida, I can stop checking for updates every 4 hours. Until Monday. PRETTY sure my little Nala (the one set as my avatar) is a girl, cute little poof crest and such a small bird at now 8 weeks old. And Stardust has serious tyrannosaurus rex feet/legs and what might be streamers coming in. Only thing about that one, it cries big time if it can't find someone in the teenie tiny coop/run. (Seriously, they are downstairs, go look!) But seems like that is a female behavior, so testing results shall confirm things. There is no way I could go through another 4 months of wondering!

Been a hot few days here, I'm now the foster parent to a senior cat with health issues, they are not giving her long to live, but I have to wonder just how much and what is wrong with her, she seems to be blind, but I don't think it's totally, had been told she was deaf as well, she's not, she can hear you walking and lift her head to watch you.. she heard me scratching on the side of the couch last night and followed that to where I was sitting. Been out and checked on all the chicks and chickens, they are all doing good. :) how's everyone else fairing?

Maybe the cat can feel the vibrations? I am very happy to see a little cloud cover and cooling here!

OK here is the latest in Redneck Brooders!

The floor of the old brooder area is on the left. Swung out the cardboard in front, added some netting. Double the size of brooder. Chicks are learning to scratch compost and cover the new newspaper flooring in this photo. Some old leftover vinyl flooring is under the newspaper. They are 9 days old in this photo taken today.

Good luck with the senior cat.

My chicken's are all doing ok out in the coop, and so are the chick's that are still in my brooder. I got backed up here on egg's again, so I'm trying to donate them to the local Food Pantry here.

She could be, it would have to be from a long way away though.. I'm not sure that the animal shelter ladies knew all that much about her and I have a feeling that they were just trying to get someone to take her, she looks almost like my squeek, my cat I lost 3 years ago. my "free" cat cost almost a 150.00 lol, got a flat on the truck and didn't realize it, our roads out here are so rough. Ended up driving on it for a distance and now we've got to replace it, But it worked out, I got to meet her and fill out the paperwork while we waited for road side assistance, paid for that stuff for 7 years, figured I might as well use it..lol.. We had a dog named Maggie that we got for free from the animal shelter, 400.00+ later she came home from the Vet's, she spent her first three days as our pet in their care. She had heart worms, had her for over 5 years before she went over the bridge.

Glad the babies are all doing ok, have you managed to get ahold of the food bank? I know our's will sometimes take eggs they get by the dozen and split them into 6, so that everyone can hopefully get some

Yes, it's the same one's that I gave 6 dozen of egg's to before. I called, but he was busy today. He told me to call him back tomorrow after noon, and that he would bring me some egg cartons when he come's to pick up another 6 dozen of my egg's. I'm not running another batch for hatching and no one has been wanting hatching egg's, so they have been building up in my fridge.

I've got to get ahold of a couple of my egg customers, I've got 6 dozen sitting there and the girls are still giving 1 dozen or better a day.. I'm surprised with as hot as it's been.

This is my hospice foster kitty, her name is Butter-Bean.. someone at the Animal Shelter has a thing about legume's (beans) I've seen a few cats on their site named after a bean, last one before her was "Pinto Bean" lol.. Here she is doing the cat butt in the face with hubby. I've not got much on her back history, beyond she was abandoned at a vets, so matted that they had to shave her down to her skin. She's still got a couple of knot's, but they are far out enough from her skin that I can cut them out with scissors. So far I've found that she really doesn't want to or can't eat solid food's, even the cat's version of pate.. or the pouch stuff. She's eating the lil'soups by Friskies, except for the small chunks in it. Her paws seem to be crooked and she has a problem with her left shoulder but she gets around. She just came looking for me, I was in our den/computer room.. Their not giving her much more than days, I'm aiming for weeks to months, waiting for them to get back to me with why they are thinking days. This way I will know what to look for if it's getting worse.
