The humidity (20% here) got me too. Not a cloud in the sky and barely 90 degrees, but I got very hot painting the railing on the back porch/ramp. Birds got ice cubes and an ice bottle early. Going to be 111 here next saturday!

We do need the rain that will help to put out those wild fires that are going on, but with the rain will also come a rise in the humidity.

It was swt to be 114 for me next weekend, now 115, which probably means 118! Worse than chicken math! Time to setup that pool...

My chickens dont even know how good theyve got it!

95 here right now! Hot for us. Getting some portable hose misters for the Ideal chicks, they are moving outside tomorrow. Better on the lawn than in the shed.

A good sized dust devil hit the back of the house a 1/2 hour ago. I went out afterwards to make sure thing's were ok out by the coop. They were all ok and the burn barrel was still standing.

Good Morning! Cooled down to 58 here last night. The big swings in temp sure make it tough on the brooder chicks! 100 daytime, down to below 60 is over 40 degrees swing -- I have to give them enough heat in the evening that they bed down far away, then I go and turn on the light @ 3 am to get them to move to the heater. They just start eating, they did not care it was down to 78 in the brooder.

Just the wings -- 2 weeks old tomorrow. The 4 week olds are off heat. They were panting in the heat yesterday, so they got to learn about ice bottles. Hilarious! The rocks were sitting on top of the frozen juice bottle and then sliding off for no reason that their bird brain could figure out, so the finally decided to sit with breast pushed up to the bottle and heads on top.
