Arizona Chickens

Try a garden center, you can often find small ones in there that are designed to measure ambient temp just like one for an incubator. It’s not got to be in there forever but if you see 102 put it in there and find out if it that’s a real temp.
Just set on top of the eggs

OK, I'll try that. I just walked into the house after washing the chicken coop with dish detergent (Dawn). The coop's last owner had chickens with pale tan feathers, almost white. The Virkon S tablets are here, but that will probably have to wait for tomorrow when the coop is dry.

How are your chickens?

OK, I just took my fancy point and click thermometer that's supposed to be super accurate. It's made for reptile enclosures so you can measure the air inside. I opened the little window to take the temp, and the incubator is right at 100 degrees. It matches what the thermometer inside says.

(Had to edit this because the beam hit the heater coil and gave a false high reading. The temps are OK, whew!)

Hi. This is an old thread but I’m new so I’ll add to it. We live about 40 miles east of Kingman and it does get hot here. All I do is run water in the shade and they love it, puddles . They get cold watermelon and other cold treats. They do hang their wings and pant sometimes but I just keep an eye on them. I put a fan in the coop window when it cools down in the evening to cool the coop for the night. Mine do fine. Nice to meet others in AZ.

Hello, and welcome! I'm glad that you have popped in here to our AZ. thread to introduce yourself! What breed's do you have?

Roger Roo (from @BlueBaby) finally getting introduced to the ladies this morning! I just caught the mean NN Roo yesterday afternoon to make room for Roger (lucky Roger).

That's a great price! Didn't see details on what the features are.

I just want to mention that if you want to build your own incubator - Incubator Warehouse has parts (I built one but haven't hatched anything yet in it).
Another source for new incubators is Coops n More from TX. They look like they are very cleanable and have turners for a decent price. Coops n more also has a variety of chicken keeping essentials at a good price and that you can trust which is not always the case with some other big online sources.

You will be able to hatch some of Roger's chick's in it soon enough. ;)
