Arizona Chickens

I was! We moved down here a few months ago and I brought my birds with me!! I just have to downsize a bit to make my flock and friends flock more manageable.

Ok, well welcome to AZ. What general area of AZ. did you move to, and what are you trying to rehome to downsize?

Not sure if I mentioned that our chickens go absolutely crazy over the fermented feed, like ape $hI!. They jump up on top of me, in & on the container, jump up to get a bite before it hits the pan. This is no joke. My husband had to feed them when I went out of town overnight for a wedding. He was freaked out, he left the run and was flabbergasted. All he could think to do is get a spray bottle. All he talked about for days were the crazy chickens & the fermented feed. “What do you feed them!”, “they attacked me!” “They bit me” bla, bla, bla. I was laughing so hard, wimp, tehe.

It is milled grains so it’s like a powder. I add apple cider vinegar once I fill the container with 1-2 inches of water, mix then let is soak overnight. Here is their site, all organic. https://order.phoenixorganicfeed.com/Default.asp
I used to call crows down.. i had one as a kid, so i guess i picked up the language. I went w a friend to house sit and was talking to one crow who came to sit w me. Then i went inside and i guess he told his crow friends... and my friend went out and started screaming as a dozen crows flew down to surround her. She swore they were attacking her!! 😂 i can just imagine your husband screaming like he was stuck in The Birds movie!!

Ok did my duck research. Only the muscovy is quiet enough for my yard, but given their flying abilities, i wouldn't feel i could keep them safe, especially from the neighbors attack dogs, or the hawks that like to hang out. We will stick w our house chickens!!

Speaking of which, Elsa is getting bigger (or fluffier rather) and wants to be held continuously. I tried to get her to stand next to the little town for a Christmas pic, but she wasn't having it. Her color is very pretty though.

Those feathers look like dreads :thumbsup

Love the video! Ok dumb question for you.. are these guys quiet?? And do they fly or jump high? Im wondering if i can have them in my HOA yard.
No question is dumb. You don’t know unless you ask.
These are Indian Runners so no flying. They will quack but I don’t know how loud they’ll get. They are most likely like chickens...some are quiet and some make a lot of racket.

This morning Big Ben started crowing, but it sounded strange, like maybe he had a hoarse throat. Then the dogs started nudging me and heading toward the door. I decided to go outside to see what was going on. A neighbor's place is on fire. Hope it doesn't catch the sagebrush on fire and spread. A fire truck just went by.
