Ok, looking for some advice... If I plan to have 40 DP layers and 2-3 roosters to breed meaties and have a sustainable flock, can/should I have them all in 1 large coop/run or should I split them into separate coops/runs and a grow out coop/run for the culls?

Not all rooster's will be nice to each other if they are in the same pen with the girl's, and some breed's of rooster's have a tendency to be more aggressive than other's.

Good idea, or you would soon be able to relate to the old woman who lived in the shoe. For her it was so many children she didn't know what to do.

The house the woman lived in is in York PA. My hometown. I live in the next county now. They give tours and sell ice cream.

The roosters may fight, or they may not. Separate pens would ensure they don’t.

Good morning AZ. The Fugly Ducklings are getting so big and getting their big girl feathers! Today they graduate to a bucket waterer because they’re making a mess in the coop.

You know how duck's are. When they see water, it's something to play in.

Yes’m that’s true! They have a little pool outside to bathe and play in though and need to learn they can leave the coop now. I’m hoping the bucket waterer will keep it dry inside the coop and get them outside to play.

It is always a good idea to have different areas for what you want to breed, small area for chicken hospital (bumble foot, one can get hurt) plus a few grow out areas, they can be very helpful.

Well, well, well... well.. Lorraine is still, um.. can you be super broody? Flip N flap! I am gonna get some baby ducks, I am not keeping them & think I have a friend that will take them. Anyho, more flock drama on its way here. I am hoping that she will snap out of it soon. The other ducks have not laid an egg in forever it seems.
On another flock note, the babies from under Lorraine

are getting some pretty feathers.
Rojer, the dad is a Bielefelder... 2 of the chicks are Alohas & 2 from GLW & the black one I believe is from our Araucana.. You can see the pattern in their feathers
I think they are about ready to go out as they are now dust bathing in their food, silly birds.

@City farm When I got these 10 Aloha chick's from Sommer, they had more white on them, so I can't figure out which of your chick's came from out of your Aloha hen. I fed mine wet chick feed when they were in the brooder, and they pigged out and grew fast. They are outside now and doing good in the grow-out pen. There are some cockerels in the batch, so I will have to get rid of them, because I'll only be keeping the pullets from this batch for future breeding to Manoa.

It might be harder for you to see the feathering but 2 have more speckles and the 2 others have Wyandott coloring in their wings. When they get more feathers I will post. Yeah, I am with you I don’t plan on keeping any dudes. Even Rojer will have to go.
