Arizona Chickens

The one I am using is a Nurture Right 360. So far, so good. I have made some mistakes, and some are still hatching.

This is the one I was looking at, since it has an insert for quail eggs besides the chicken eggs.

Really? I hope the duckling don't end up thinking that they are parrot's.

Maybe Dylan will like them better than she does the adults if she sees the hatch!

After looking at silkies on line--that would work! The eggs are a different color, so it would be possible to tell them apart from leghorn eggs. I'm just wondering what the result would be if Big Ben decided to make a silkie one of his harem. That would result in one weird looking cross breed.

Wishing I had eggs hatching this weekend, too.

I just sent a message to a friend who makes signs, etc., asking about a sign saying The Chicken Palace.

I'd be careful with that. Silkies have that vaulted skull under that big head puff. A good peck on top of the head by another could kill her. All of that head feathering also makes it hard for them to see.

Maybe she'll be scared of them or think they're weird because they're not all naked and helpless like baby parrots?

I once had a little Sultan rooster, not quite as small as a Silkie, but a little guy. He was very prolific, no little peck on his feather head would stop him! I wish, I ended up with a hatch of Sultan X Orpingtons. Cute chicks, but 7 were little boys.

OH!!! I have been trying to look up info on sultans, not too many people have them. So... did you have ANY females? I am curious about the noise they make. I found one of a sultan egg song, which consisted of one single loud chirp.. but I don't know how accurate that is.

I only had the male, beware of the "FREE" exotic chick! The girls were sold before they were not cute any more!

First duckling is out! First job as a duck is completed, poop! They are almost as naked looking as a parrot chick at this stage!
