It's interesting though that they came from out of 2 fully feathered Buff Orpington parent's. There has to be some sort of recessive gene somewhere in the back-lineage of those parent's.

Uh, Bluebaby, there may be an interesting genetic thing going on there, but who on earth would want an ugly naked chicken? It's bad enough that some people are breeding naked dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Even chicken aprons like the ones I put on the Leghorn girls would not be enough for those birds.

I got a huge white egg out there this morning, but I don't know what girl layed it.

3 of 4 NN hens laid eggs today in the new coop area with Roger's bunch. They must be settling in ok. Only the barely laying bowtie NN didn't lay her egg. She's the only one who actually slept in the enclosed roosts with the rest. The other three roosted in front of the egg boxes last nite. I'll try to place them inside on the roosts again tonite and see if they stay.

They might though. A while back I read about one of those projects for third-world countries. They are/were trying to come up with a super heat-tolerant turkey and/or chicken to survive the heat in hotter climates.

They might think, "Hey, no need to pluck this one!"

If someone saw a naked chicken wearing clothes to protect it from the sun, who knows what they might do.

And if those things were to become popular with whoever raises chickens to supply stores with chicken meat, the price of feather pillows and down jackets might go up because of a feather shortage.

Anyone notice the phrase "socially distance" in that article as a recommendation to poultry keepers? I'm glad I just ordered a aviary net (along with a small egg turner for my DIY-homemade incubator).
