Arizona Chickens

We got a nice cool down,

It cooled us down from 95 to 67, and we got at least 1/2 an inch maybe more.
I just looked at the weather underground radar, and it looks like the area beyond the "tactical fire break"/county road 59 got dumped on or at least some intense storm" so, if the fire gets there (it looked close) hopefully that wet fuel will greatly help contain it. There's a storm coming from camp verde that should hit me and then the fire area that looked like it was missed up to this point. Oh, and yesterday I saw a team of hotshots come through, presumably headed to the fire, and later a giant caterpillar equipment that could probably make room for a standard septic tank, in a single scoop. serious containment going on now. fingers crossed!

Well, #3 has a hole and keeps pushing on it, getting nowhere. I moved the egg that was lying against where it was pushing so that all it would have to push against is its own shell.

I also took my fingernail and gently scraped off any wax that was thick to make it easier for the other baby to get out, but I didn't feel any movement in that egg. I can see dark feathers pushed against the little pip. Doesn't seem to be alive, but there's probably still hope.

Come on, hot shots! We're cheering for you!

Last night I saw two lightning strikes. We need the rain, not more of that.

Yes, here we had lots of lightning, too. The summer rain storms always come with a lot of lightening.:( It is clear and hot here this morning, already 70.

It rained and had lightening over here too, but it didn't start until about 10:45 last night, and I have already signed off online. I had looked at the thermometer for the outside temp before I went to bed, and it said that it was 76-F.

Good! so you and your birds got a break from the heat!

but then it'd have lowered the temp to 100 and given you super high humidity. no breaks from the heat here!
You can say that again, even here it is humid already. I hope the fly predators did not all wash away yesterday! They are really tiny.
