I know that they are tiny. I'm going to order another batch of them from Amazon when I order that new incubator there.

I have tons of traps, and have experimented re-filling the jars with an old egg -- very smelly. I really want the little predators to do their job!

The flies were down after I got those fly predator's, but came back in thick after I put those mister's up. The moisture seems to have drawn them back in.

This rain will water the flies, for sure. The ducks have water and are very messy, they attract flies even more than chickens. Fly traps are what I have always used, but sometimes they just are not enough to get every fly! Little roaming fly predators would be much better.
You should see how nice the Red Dorkings are. I am going to have to take some photos. Big and easy going. They ought to get along with the NN girls.

How old are those Red Dorking's now?

I let the NN Aloha broody stay in the nesting box when I was out there a bit ago. It's cooler inside the coop, then it is in the run where I was working at. The mister's are set up on the timer to go on at 10:00 AM., so they will start up in a few more minute's.

I was just outside cleaning out and putting clean water in the 2 big 3-gallon tub container's that I have out there for them to stand in when it's hot, and I was sweating so bad that the sweat was running down the lenses of my sunglasses. The humidity is picking up from the rising heat.

I put the ice cubes out in the run and turned on the mister (aimed at the nestbox and roost) around 9. It was already over 90 then and is 100 now. I was just thinking that in black canyon at 2000 elevation, that's about the same time/temperatures, and last summer was record setting with many 50-yr old trees in Phx dying of the heat. Whew!

How old are those Red Dorking's now?

I let the NN Aloha broody stay in the nesting box when I was out there a bit ago. It's cooler inside the coop, then it is in the run where I was working at. The mister's are set up on the timer to go on at 10:00 AM., so they will start up in a few more minute's.

They are 8 weeks. They have a good size already, but the Cuckoo Marans cockerel is the biggest. The 2 Exchequer Leghorns and some RI Reds are sold. The RI Reds are looking much darker than the hatchery Red Sex-Link that I have. An almost black red, which is what the old time Reds should be. I will be having a difficult time to pick only one cockerel to keep, but they are beginning to crow already. The Welbar cockerels are almost as big as the Dorkings, but are more aggressive and hog the food, one of them is on my list for freezer camp pretty soon! The Marans is scheduled to be first this next Tuesday. I will have to weigh him, but he is the most agressive and is crowing after the big rooster's crow!

It's supposed to hit 103 degrees here today.

The chick that started to hatch yesterday afternoon is still the same. I can see movement, but it's less chirpy and lively than yesterday. It has a breathing hole. Don't want to interfere too soon.

Yes, the aggressive one's are always the first that should go, so that peace can be kept in the flock!
