Arizona Chickens

I have good news! Okay, mixed news, anyway.

Previously I had thought that eggs for breakfast (which I'd been having every morning for a few weeks) were causing me some fairly serious digestive upset. Okay...there goes an inexpensive source of protein. Hmph. I'm a strict carnivore, so it had been saving me money, but not worth it if I can't leave the house for an hour after I eat. (TMI? Sorry.)

But recently I quit drinking coffee, for several reasons, and decided to try eggs again. I typically eat a 1/2 lb of sausage and 4 eggs as breakfast. Eureka! My tummy was fine! Turns out it was the coffee, not the eggs.

So, bad because I'll miss coffee, but good because I was quitting anyway AND because I can save grocery money, have fresh eggs, and...more chickens. ;)

It was probably from the acid in the coffee. Sometimes I have to slow down on how much of it that I drink, and drinking a glass of milk when it happens help's.

The sugar in milk messes me up, but I can eat hard cheese, yogurt, full-fat cottage cheese, etc. Herbal tea gives me a hot cuppa-something if I need it, and it's totally worth giving up coffee to have eggs again! :)

I feel for you Hermit. I used to drink diet colas to get my caffeine. No more my stomach won't handle it. I stated life on milk and baby food I suppose that is how I am going to end it. Sucks to get old.
You are so right. It sucks to get old. But maybe being above ground and vertical has enough benefits to balance it out. Ha! I guess as a carnivore when I get too old to chew, I'll put my beef in a blender. :p

Decaffeinated coffee may work if you're wanting it that bad. I too am having to brew coffee lighter cause my intestines just aren't settling well with stronger coffee, isn't aging fun. Glad you're all good with eggs though.

Some brands of coffee do my stomach in, and others are fine. I switched to Mystic Monk coffee a few years ago, and haven't had any problems since.

And right now I'm eating bean based tacos (stopped eating meat in the 80's) with Hatch chilis that I just roasted. If it upsets my stomach, at least it will be worth it.

I drink my coffee poured straight out of the pot, with no cream or sugar in it.

Are you able to grow some of your own hatch chili's up there where you are?
